Enzo Fortress

Ged pulled up on Enzo's reach, helping his old friend out of the pitfall he had been forced into.

His eyes, at the comment, turned to the people who had been turned to fearlings.
Daisy was looking blankly where Pitch had vanished, looking even more frail than before.

"Surely there must be a way to get them back..?"

"Luck can do many things, friend... but I don't know about this."

Ged's expression was stony, and he held a look of pure determination.

"We'll find a way, Enzo."

"Let us first start with this one," I point over at Daisy, "and we shall see what we can do."

OOC BTW where's Cyn going to be?

(( just stuck her in the forest with Pitch, who's pretty dazed and will be in pretty bad shape for a while. ))


Gladameir nodded, his expression growing dim.

Daisy had not moved. Her veins had darkened more. She looked frail and abused and pitiful.
But quiet and dark, like a phantom.

Her uncle stepped toward her, his eyes looking sad.
"Daisy...."

I figure this area is more Ged's territory, as I failed both my daughter and grandson.

But he still needs my assistance, so to do what I can, I look at him to lace him in good luck.

There was no reply from the dazed girl. Ged felt sick, seeing every bruise and bite mark on the girl.
He moved to put a hand on her shoulder.
Still, she did not react.

The good luck surrounding Ged gave him a heart of hope, and he looked to Enzo thankfully.

"Daisy, my girl.... what has he done to you."

"My master did nothing."

"What did he do to you, Daisy? That man is no one's master, especially not yours..."

"Master did nothing"

"Daisy this is not you.."

She seemed to retch.
Her stomach was pulled back as her back arched, and she gave a gag, heart racing, her face seemed to flush momentarily. She looked human for a second.

Feeling I'd probably given Ged enough luck, I turn to Daisy and give her some, hoping the luck will latch onto the human side,

"Come now Daisy, you must come back to your senses."

Another choking retch, Ged hend onto the girl's shoulder with steady assuredness.

The girl was obviously having troubles.
"I am the Nightmare Prince-"

"You're not! You're my niece, Daisy! Listen, my dear! Remember how you grew up, in the school of Durmstrang? Your friends, the ones you began to call family?"

She was shaking now, the exorcism of the Fearling a difficult task.
Her eyes clamped shut, and shadows seemed to be seeping from her nose mouth and ears. She was slowly returning to herself.

Ged's expression lit in a grin.
"It's working...-! Enzo, we've got a chance at this!"

"Most excellent... I shall instruct my following that good luck on the human side and appealing to their humanity is highly effective."

The Shapeshifter nodded firmly and steadied Daisy, as the mast of the blackness emptied from her.
She did not speak, but fell back into her Uncle's careful arms, gasping for air, on the brink of conciousness.

"We will get your grandson better, Enzo. I promise you."

"We must, but we must focus on her first."

"We must see if the transformation has any negative side effects. You're both welcome to this place. It's not likely he'll return here."

Ged lifted the girl, who had well slipped into a daze, into his arms.
She looked ill, completely, and he had a sick feeling that Pitch had not just changed her to a fearling, but had done worse to her while he could.

From the bite-marks, it was about assured.

"Thank you, old friend. I am sorry I did not arrive sooner. Perhaps if we set to work on the others, they will not suffer a fate as the other..."

A sad look turned to the body of the boy Pitch had killed. The one who had wanted freedom.
"I will bury him, if you wish."

"No... let me do it."

A grim look crossed over the man's face and he frowned.

".... are you sure, Enzo? .... a good student of yours?"

"On the contrary, he was one of the worst one. But that's what made him the best." I frown as I pick up the body.

Perhaps there was a touch of the heart.

Ged felt sorrowful for his old friend. In his own arms was a living niece. In the arms of the other, a dead student.

"You've changed, Enzo. I'm sorry, for what happened to him. I assume you looked to him like a near son."

"Very much so. More than I've probably ever let on."

"... I'm sorry, old friend."

Ged could say no more on the matter.
The dead boy had a look of pain and fear on his still face. It was clear he did not die peacefully.

"Vengeance shall be mine for both this transgression and the one he stains my family with now."

The Shapeshifter's expression was grim, as he nodded.

"I will join you, Enzo. It's time our species were once more reunited in partnership for the good of each other. This act against you will be treated as an act against myself. The dark man will not escape this..."

"I welcome your kind's help."

Ged nodded a last time before turning to navigate the halls to find the best place to tend to Daisy, his heart still heavy for his friend.

In the rare event of my demise, I had prepared a shrine to lay myself to rest. But I found a more worthy occupant for such a burial.

Ascending the crystalized stairs, my eyes fall upon what was to be my tomb. It was a simple affair, just a hollowed slab made of the same material as the fortress itself. Four tower-like pillars of flames lit the room brighter than the rest of the veritable sun temple this place was.

Laying him inside, I pull out my wand, the instrument of much disarray and wave it over the engraving, changing it to..

"Erik, a better man than any I know."

Ged had gone to other direction, so to say, finding an empty guest room and laying the girl on the bed.
She was feverish, and her bruises seemed to have gotten worse since the exorcism of the fearling.
He pulled out his staff and gently began to cast a good-sleep spell on her.
She needed it- it was evident that she was having a nightmare.
