The Lone Village

"Well I've only ever talked to the one man. The others don't know about me."

"Even still, he hasn't opened his mind to you. They really are unfortunate souls, humans..."

"I don't know. I think there's hope for them." He looked back at the quieting village, the vampire attack nearly over. The dead littered the streets and the dying were being help captive by the vampires that fought over their blood.

Bara chuckles. "I believe they're hopeless. Nothing special about them." Except their blood...

"Why do you not like them? Have they wronged you so severely that you can never like their fragile species?" he asked out of curiosity.

Bara chuckles, trying to keep herself from full out laughing.  "Oh, I never said I didn't like them..." She licks her lips, revealing a hint of a pearly-white fang.  "I just said that they're pathetic."

He looked down at his hooves and shuffled them around nervously. We obviously have very different views on them."

"It would seem so... But that's only natural. Everyone has different biews of everything."

"I should probably go. My clan is probably looking for me." He started to back off into the woods.

She just nods in acknowledgement, thinking about feeding on some humans with her fellow vampires.

The middle-aged satyr stood in the midst of ruined buildings. He stood, waiting for the man who he was supposed to be meeting with. Something about diplomatic discussions.

Two men approached the satyr in the ruined town. One was a frail looking man in a red cloak while the other was a bare chested bald man who was well built and held two kamas in his hands.

"Thank you for agreeing to meet with me..." Polidus, the weaker man, approached him politely and extended his hand, "Polidus, high priest of Diarmid. This is my bodyguard Ajolta..."

He shook the man's hand and nodded his head. "Nice to meet you, Polidus. I am Taef, speaker for those in Fryrk."

He released Polinus' hand and folded his hands behind his back. "How can I assist you?"

"My people and yours share a common foe.." Polidus started to walk around the ruined village. 

"We too have been the victims of an unprovoked assault by those of Andawarudo..."

He watched the man with a blank expression. "Yes, the Andawarudo have attacked the residents of Fryrk. How have they made enemies with you?"

"Well they attacked us not to put too fine a point on it."

Ajolta spoke up now, "to attack the high priest is to attack the watcher herself! This heresy and disrespect will not be tolerated!"

"Correct." Polidus continued, "my emperors were livid when they heard this news. We're it not for the bravery of Ajolta I would not have survived..." It was a slight lie as he had been the one to save him but Polidus didn't enjoy the spotlight and forgiving his guards blunder might ensure he listened better.

Ajolta looked at the priest in surprise but was grateful to have his errors waived.

"Have they showed no signs of stopping or remorse?"

"On the contrary, they've promised future hostility..."

Ajolta spoke once more, "it wouldn't matter if they did show remorse anyway. They aren't as sorry as they're going to be!"

"Please, stay calm. I will go to Helico and address this issue. These people cannot continue to do this. I do not wish to start a war though. Maybe going to Helico wouldn't be the best decision."

He stroked his beard in thought. "Do you have a suggestion?"

"We do. I agree that open warfare wouldn't be advisable. However they may yet be a way to force them back..."

"Allow a small garrison of our troops to disguise as soldiers of this realm and we can get them out of your land with no risk to your people or our political standings..."

"After all, if you liberate your own people from a threat that attacked you, I doubt the council would think twice of it." He told him with a careless shrug. "That and we remind Andawarudo of their place..."

"And what is in it for you? People rarely do something to help out others unless there is something in it for themselves."

"Our benefit is only to ensure they suffer a loss. If they believe they can disrespect us without retribution, they are sorely mistaken..."

Bara's gonna be pissed!

Taef nodded and scratched behind one of his antlers. "That sounds like a fair enough plan. Your soldiers will be the only ones confronting the Anawarudo?"
