Lewis shrugged his heavy shoulders.

"I'm still relatively new here. It makes sense I don't know everyone's secrets yet."

"Fair enough. Really there's only one dangerous werewolf here, and he's a vampire-werewolf hybrid. Fortunately, that gives him vampire weaknesses as well."

"I assume you speak of Crouch, yes?"

I nod. "Yes. He happens to be the vampire that bit me as well."

"What a small world. I actually seem to be on good terms with Crouch. Good enough terms where he won't openly attack me anyway."

I grimace. "I can't stand him. We've been at each other's throats too much for me to like him - sometimes quite literally. There have been fights at the full moon countless times."

"Is there a reason for this amount of violence?"

"Oh, there's usually some kind of motivation behind it. It's not just senseless fighting."

"Are you sure there's nothing about your werewolf genes that makes you more violent, even if just towards other werewolves?"

"I'm sure. There are two other werewolves who I'm friendly with. It's just Crouch, unless the hostility we feel towards each other is increased when we're wolves."

"Interesting." Lewis made some notes in his journal "Thanks for your help Phoenix; this information may very well save my life."

Rumors had spread of Crouch's reform. I of all people know this is as possibile as matter itself being destroyed.

I had had enough with Crouch being near impossible to defeat, something had to even the odds when he inevitably betrayed us again.

Lewis was in his comfort zone; hanging from the supports for the ceiling with one hand, reading a book with the other. If he hadn't needed to yawn, he never would have noticed the boy beneath him.

"Hey."

I look up at the hanging boy, surprised by his position, "Hello."

"What're you doing?"

"Researching a method for weakening a hybrid..."

"What a coincidence; I am researching similar methods." Lewis tried to express his excitement, but could not "Any particular reason? Or is it just for fun?"

"A hybrid who I know to be a ticking time bomb is here and I'm sick of people being his victims!"

"I assume you speak of Crouch?"

Lewis lowered his book and focused on his conversation; this was getting interesting.

"Precisely."

"Well, for one thing I know he's not a huge fan of garlic. But it won't kill him. Nothing will at this point. I believe we'll need to take more drastic measures."

"What do you suggest?"

"Though we may not be able to kill him, a magical weapon of sorts may allow us to drain his powers, maybe even remove his lycanthropy."

Lewis released his grip from the ceiling support, and landed heavily on his feet, his back slouching with the weight of his arms. He looked up at the boy.

"I, however, do not possess the capabilities to create such an object; my skills with magic are rather poor."

The wheels in my mind start to run into overdrive, "A vacuum for his abilities so to speak..."
