I turn toward the boy, he had defiance in him...

"I don't want you to teach me to be bad. I'm not bad. I'm good."

He paused. "I like drawing and painting. I don't want to be mean like Harp. He's bad and I don't like him. I want people to like me. Like Sapphire. She likes me."

"Please Kevin, NO ONE is nice. Some are just more patient than others in their betrayals..." I scowl as I think of my meddlesome ex and my sister.

"Sapphire's nice! She's my friend, she likes me."

"She only PRETENDS to. I know her manipulative ways..."

"You don't know anything about her!" he shouted.

Harp's laugh cut into his mind. "That's right, tell him. Yell, he doesn't know her."

Joshua groaned. "Now do you remember why we swore to never come back here?"

"Ah but I do... we used to date before I got my... sunny disposition..."

I decide to try a lie out, "In fact, how do you think I GOT this sunny disposition?"

The Mr. and Mrs. rolled their eyes as their son had yet another mental break down.

Kevin faltered for a second. "How did you get that way?" Curiosity always got the best of him.

Joshua looked at Harp. "Sup, long time no see."

Harp looked at Joshua in pure disgust. "Don't talk to me you filth."

"Well you see... I started off as a normal man, like you. But then I made the mistake of dating Sapphire."

I inhale rapidly as if still hurt by this fake encounter, "I only wanted her to like me... I just wanted her to see how much I liked her. But she was only using me for my talents and brain... like she probably will with you..."

"But I'm not talented. I'm not smart. What could she gain by using me?"

Harp grunted in agreement. "He has a point there."

It was Joshua's turn to glare at the other. "Hey, don't agree with Kevin."

"Se's probably just playing with you, to get rid of your friends. Sadistic minx that one..."

He shook his head. "I don't have any friends. She's my first one."

"Hey! What am I? Chopped liver?"

Harp laughed in amusement at Joshua.

"Yes you do... Joshua and any other fun pals you have..."

"They're only my friends though. No one else can see them."

"That doesn't mean she can't hurt them..."

"But why would she do that? She likes Joshua and Seventeen."

"She PRETENDS to like them..."

He couldn't wrap his mind around the possibility of Sapphire using him. Why would she do that?

Harp chuckled. "Life sucks then you die. She's a bitch. Get over her, move on."

"Y-you're telling the truth?"

"What would I gain by lying?"

He shrugged. "I-I don't know...."

"Listen... I've BEEN in her web, I'm just trying to free you before you're hurt."

Even though he had swore to never come back here, to this place that he once only knew, he was back again. He needed to be somewhere familiar, where, hopefully, he's see some friendly faces. He'd been pretty isolated as of late and it was starting to get to him. Harp would visit him more and more.
