Grand Staircase

She was a little shocked to see him, her mind racked it self for something to say, but the only word that escaped her lips was a feeble "hey.."

"yo.."

She scuffed her boots a little avoiding eye contact with him "so umm.. this is beyond awkward... "

"You have NO idea..." but hey I'm winning the breakup...

She looked up finally her blue eyes meeting his "are you happier? I know being single is kind of your thing..."

"Well ain't ya?" I ask her, "I mean look at us, we ain't serious white dress, tux shit..."

She looked at him for a long moment wishing for just a moment she could read his mind "no.. I guess we're not.. "

"I don't know... I mean... I just don't get it."

"neither do I really... I just know that it hurts.. and not even getting out of my mind drunk with Topher last night helped.."

"huh... so I wasn't the only one with someone last night..."

His words hit her like a ton of bricks "I wasn't with him in that sense... we just drank and danced.. and then he got knocked out cold by this huge guy....." she starred at the ground again "who were you with?"

"Some dame... A... Am.. Amaya that was it."

"I see.. guess it doesn't take you long to move on..." she gazed at the Hospital wing doors"I guess I'll see you around.." she went to move past him.

"Same with you..." I say as I walk off.

A tear slid down her cheek as he said that, and she couldn't help as she spun around anger now rising in her "I'm not even close to moving on.. you're like a gaping hole in my chest right now! all I wanted last night was to black out so I didn't have to think about you every second... and it turns out you were with another girl.. so my pain was wasted.."

"Umm yeah, sorry if that doesn't mean much coming from the dame who kissed my best friend... what's it, 5 times now?!"

"Oh that's rich coming from the guy who's cheated on me more than once.. and it hasn't been five times." her hair was steadily turning red as she got more and more angry.

"Just admit it! You'd pick that rich asshole over me anyday of the week!!"

She paused her blood boiling now, but she did something odd. She rushed toward him and with out a second thought she placed her lips on his in a slow passion filled kiss.

I'm completely caught off guard and step back a little, "The hell?!"

She stepped back a little shocked at her own actions "I love you Chimmy.. no one else.. but I know you can never be tied to one girl.. especially if you question the relationship.. so be happy, be single.. enjoy yourself.. " and with that she turned and headed into the Hospital wing to check on Toph.

I start stepping away, not knowing what to do. I just needed to be somewhere I was familiar with. Somewhere I could go to not care.

She was pacing just up by the entrance hall waiting for one of the two to emerge from the kitchens.. either to vent to Topher or to possibly yell at Chimmy again.. maybe.. she had no clue what to do.. everything was easier before the relationship.. and before Jim had come back into the picture. She blasted a piece of the stone wall as anger coursed through her.
