Hogsmead Village

Certainly, how about Ged in the the SS Underground and I'll put Crest here for Pitch?

I walk outside to take a break from Beauxbatons. It was still weird for me, being seen in public but I was growing to like it.

Cynder was gone, her feeling of anger and fear lingering about Hogsmead.

Pitch did not follow after her, sinking back into the darkness, keeping his golden eyes locked on where she had vanished.
His black robes hung about him, unshiftingly, as if even unaffected by what little breezes there were.


She was interesting. Such panic for the ones she cared for...
Yet such bravery as to as well as spit in his face to stand up for them.

The man wrinkled his curved nose, giving a low-toned growl.
No, there was much fear there.
And though many people brushed past him without a second thought, it was if they could feel the boogeyman's anger. It chilled the air, made people literally start to avoid brushing against him as they scurried on their way.

What a pitiful place.

People watching was a constant habit of mine, and this time I notice a sort of person I've never seen before.

Not to mention the air seemed to be still and icy around him. It may do me good to follow him.

With this, I take a turn into a corner and silently observe him, ready to move behind him unnoticed.

Pitch did not move for a long while, simply staring down the path Cynder had left, thinking quietly.

Then he began to busy himself.
Turning, he caught a stranger by the arm, but they did not seem to care, to notice.
He walked shortly with them, muttering things in their ear, until their eyes were wide with panic and they began to glance about, worriedly, nervously.
A new Deatheater afraid of being caught.

He moved on quickly, to a woman reading a letter from her son- an auror.
Pitch spoke words of doubt to her, golden eyes never once blinking as he weaved fears into her thoughts.
She was afraid her son would die in the line of duty.

Another stranger was afraid of being robbed.
Another worried about how his wife would react when she found out he had lost his job, that they would be in debt.

He didn't leave the area, but this place in itself was enough for Pitch to do his duty.
Here or there, young children would look at him wide eyed. He would give them a charming, cruel, jagged-toothed smile, and a murmur of "boo" before they would race away, either too scared to speak, or crying.
Towns were good for something like this. Especially in these times.

There seemed to be a long line of panic growing in the town, whatever was causing this had to be stopped.

I continue my pursuit, following the fear in people.

A child, who had wandered far from her parents, had made her way into an ally, followed curtly by Pitch.

And though the shadowy being didn't realize he had Crest following him, he gave a slight glance behind him before turning his attention to the girl.
He gave a low chuckle, reaching out a shadowy arm to her.

"there there, girl.... do not try and be brave.."

I fire off a curse at the being, before I make my presence known, "Bravery is never futile."

Pitch managed to turn about and miss the curse at just the right moment, looking unbothered and unafraid.


He backed away and gave a grown, the girl sinking to her knees and sobbing.

"With me...? It quite is."

I approach the... whatever it was, fearlessly and coldly as a merciless blizzard, drawing closer to examine him.

"And who,"
Pitch spoke coldly, angrily, "Are you...?"


There was no fear from this human. And it upset him.

I don't give him an answer and point my wand at him, at point blank range, "It's not that I don't have fear... I just have the bravery to swallow it."

Pitch's lips curled in a snarl, and a laugh formed in his throat, silky and cruel.

"I see. An auror.... but you do have fears? Do you have any idea who I am?"

I take out of my pocket a frantic note written by Eugene, describing his encounter with Pitch.

The Boogeyman raised a brow, giving a long laugh.

"Oh, so the boy wrote? How wonderful, I made him panic! I knew I felt myself grow stronger.."

"Any being who feeds on fright is pure evil and must be stopped."

"Evil? Oh, you would make a good Guardian, thinking that..."

Pitch shook his head and growled, half smirking.
"And a creature who must to survive? I've known every child when they were young... even you, Crest Strayer...."

I just stare at him, wondering how he could possibly know my name.

"Did you ever have a nightmare, Crest?"
Pitch spoke smoothly, opening his arms slightly, stepping forward.

His golden eyes twinkled with remembrance.

"Of course. Every child does. And who brings those nightmares? Who is the one who delivers every fear, every bad dream? Pitch Black, the Boogeyman... I do.."

"I don't believe in the boogeyman." I say simply as one would mock the absurdity of flying pigs.

Pitch seemed taken aback, eyes widening in surprise, leaning away from Crest for a moment.
Then anger snapped over his face, shifting it into that of pure, cruel hatred.

"Of course you do not now.... but perhaps when you were younger? You best believe now... he's right in front of you.."

"prove it then." I cut him off before he concludes, "Prove you're my fears."
