Consumed by her own grief, her face in her hands, Cynder didn't hear or see Crouch.
She merely stayed where she was and skulked, tears rolling down her chin.

-Time to put on an act of benevolence...-

-I sit right next to her.- "She hurts you, doesn't she? Having what you love when you get nothing in return."

-Although there was more truth in a 3 dollar bill than my words, my tone and expression is almost genuinely sympathetic. Borderline kind.-

Crouch's lips were seen in the corner of the girl's eyes.
Read rapidly.

She lifted her head and summoned her paper and pencil to her wordlessly, clutching them to her chest before nodding weakly to Crouch.

"You really ought to show her you're not to be trifled with..."

Cynder scribbled, about sick of everyone already.
Especially Crouch.

Why don't you go piss off?

-I shrug- "What's a couple kind words between old friends?"

"I mean... really think back. During what days did your life have the most validation than under my wing?"

Cynder read Crouch's lips before writing and showing it to him.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I don't give a shit

She clearly wasn't in the mood for the boy.

Crouch: -I read it and grab Cynder's hair and slam her head into the wall she was leaning again.- "Now THAT was rude..." -I pull out my wand.-

Matthew: -I run forward, seperating him from Cynder.- "Leave her alone!"

Crouch: -Crazy Grin- "Oh? And just who is this?"

Cynder groaned as her head was slammed against the stone, sending hot dizziness about her, blinding her for a few moments.

The girl began to squirm, seeing Matthew, a sudden worry crossing over her.
She managed to get her pencil and sketchpad and write again.
Anything to keep Crouch's attention on her and not Matthew.

She nudged the Note pad in front of Matt, so Crouch could see.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Your threats are stupid
and so are you.

Crouch: -Crazy Grin- "And your life is VALUELESS!!" -I point my wand at her.-

Matthew: -I charge forward and uppercut Crouch.- "The lord giveth and the lord taketh... me? I just defendth..."

all I can picture right now is Crouch saying 'valueless' like 'faaabbullouuuusssss'

Cynder blinked in shock at Matthew and the sudden attack.
Did he actually... hit Crouch?

Crouch: -I stand back up.- "Funny guy... but I'm the one that makes the jokes around here..."

Matthew: "I joke not, demon called Crouch. I seek to save you from the lake of fire, but I also wish to save this angel from your corruption..."

Crouch: -I look at him for a few moments silently and then ask completely baffled.- "Are you real?"

Cynder grinned and scrambled to her feet quickly, moving to stand next to Matthew.

The pawprint on her chest began to glow steadily, and a snarl broke from her mouth.

Oops, Crouchy-Wouchy is all surprised.

-Crazy Grin- "You spoke of the lake of fire... here, why don't I get you a preview of it?"

-I point my wand at Matthew.- "Incendio..."

-His clothing catches fire and he goes to pull his wand out of his cross necklace, screaming in pain.-

Shock, Cynder's wand was out in a flash, putting out the fire with a quick non-verbal aguamenti.

However, that was enough to make the girl snap.

As soon as the fire was out, the Dragon was released.

She lunged forward, dog-like jaws parted, biting furiously at Crouch, a lick of flame shooting from her jaws.

-I jump out of the way.- "Oh take a JOKE Cynder..."

The dragon landed with a scutter of claws as she turned on spot to face Crouch, growling madly, whiskers whipping in anger.

Her eyes spoke clear enough what she didn't need to say.

-Crazy Grin- "Oh how rude of me... I was merely horse-playing with our friend here... seems I used too much for him... oh well... I'm afraid I'm bored now... so I shall leave you two. Besides, it's impolite to kill someone you've only met once." -I look over at Matthew and then walk away.-

Matthew: -I get up, despite the burns on my left arm and leg

Justice seemed to relax as Crouch left, but it didn't stay for long.

She padded toward Matthew, letting out a soft whine as she pressed her nose to the boy's leg, the dog-like face soft with concern.

"I'll be okay my angel..."

The dragon backed up a moment before again, the girl stood in it's place.

She stepped forward and gingerly hugged Matthew, her gut wrenching with worry at what she had caused.
And yet she couldn't apologize, mute as ever.

-I hug her back, secretly using her to keep weight off my hurt leg.- "Are you feeling alright?" -I ask her with more concern for her than myself.-

Cynder nodded slightly, making sure he could feel or see her movement.

She wished Descole would just get this over with, and let her talk again.
Unable to ask if Matthew was all right...
it hurt her heart to know she caused this.

"Blame not yourself for this, my angel." -I can see the worry in her eyes.-
