the fox's hand slipped to his back, where his tails would be in fox form. 'Everyone suffers, crouch. even Bryn and his dysfunctional family.'

I bat his hand away glaring at him, remembering ever bruise and tear River shed, "No! No one else suffered but me. They only laughed. Laughed and laughed and laugh! Well guess what?!" My voice was becoming increasingly hysterical, "Joke's on them now. Everyone's suffering but me! Don't you see the humor? The joke is irony!!!"

Lukas took a moment, other hand still on his own back, posture composed. 'You don't think River ever suffered when she saw you being beaten, when she was helpless to save the brother she loved?'

"My own suffering I can handle... it became my power... but hers... seeing her taken away, stripped of her mind and identity... robbed from me..."

"THAT'S what I'm avenging..."

'then you weren't the only one to suffer.' he concluded logically. Lukas knew everyone suffered, it came with living.

"No one cared though, except her..."

'elsewhere, other people couldve been getting hurt at the same time, receiving similar abuse from a different set of people.' he pointed out carefully.

"WHO CARES ABOUT THEM!?" I shout, losing my rational thoughts to madness.

"ONLY RIVER MATTERED TO ME!! AND SHE WAS TAKEN!!!!"

'think about how many there could be, so many unsettled vengeances, people wanting to extract the same justice you also want, who would willingly help you achieve retribution.'

I inhale and exhale furiously, "I know... they're the souls I grab easiest. They gravitate to the same blackness that I did, that darkness that hides all scars."

'exactly.' he spoke with reasonable sense. 'you'll get your retribution one day crouch.' you might not like it, but you will..

"I know... it's going to be fun..." I grin crazily.

I return to my regular grin, "That's what I like about you Lukas, so unfailing reliable!"

'I have to be, it's part of my contract.' he unravelled the parchment, before chuckling. 'Actually it isn't, but it's good customer serrvice.'

I shrug chuckling, "It's only polite.."

'Plus, you're my friend now, it's not a stretch..' he nodded, tapping his chin.
'Shall we just leave the mess..?' he gesutred to their surroundings.

"You're right... we should clean up at least a little bit..."

I point my wand at the wreckage and start another fire, "There we go.."

'I'm surprised no aurors have shown up yet. Quite a dissapointment actually, we got through a whole musical number too.'

"They're all probably off beating their children while promising safety to everyone else..."
