Quidditch Pitch

Subject: Death and Tide Sat Sep 22, 2012 1:14 pm

Death walked out to the pitch, he needed some fresh air and figured the pitch wouldn't be crowded. It was offseason and nobody ever came out here during the offseason. There were a few people in the stands. One blonde haired boy stood out among them. His favourite play thing, Tide. He walked up the stairs of the stand and toward Tide. "Hello Dimitrov. Long time no see, where have you been hiding?"

Tide looked up and then back down at his hands folded around the letter. "None of your fucking business Dolohov."

Death smirked, "Have you not learned your lesson about your language Dimitrov? I can give you another one."

Tide stood abruptly and faced Death. "Fuck off!" His fists clenched and his voice was stern, he wasn't playing.

Their shouting caught her attention, and she looked at the pair directly now, knownig she'd have to step in if she didn't want someone to die...

Death raised an eyebrow. "Dimitrov grew some balls." He smirked, "What happened? For tired of being someone elses chew toy?"

Tide's jaw clenched. "Yeah, I'm not your own personal plaything that you can screw around with for your own amusement. Just leave me alone." He didn't break eye contact.

Death smiled. "I admire your guts Dimitrov. You've got the makings of a great Death Eater." Death left it at that, if he knew Dimitrov, he'd bite the bait.

"A Death Eater? How would I make a great Death Eater?"

Bingo! Gotcha Dimitrov. "Well, look at how you stood up to me and laid down that law like that. You're in Gryffindor for a reason. However, I think your skills at not taking shit from anyone would be more useful elsewhere. Don't you? Standing up to bullies gets boring, and there's only so many bullies out there."

'He isn't interested.' she snapped, walking up to them swiftly with her usual poise and polite grace. 'He never will be, unless he has a death wish. The good guys are rising up against you, and we'll win.'

Tide and Death looked at Mer as she spoke. Death scowled at her and Tide just looked away. "A Death Eater huh?" Tide asked.

"Yep, you'd be great. You little girlfriend here doesn't know that she is on the wrong side."

"She's not my girlfriend," Tide said softly. He looked up at Death, keeping his eyes away from Mer.

Death looked between the two of them and then at the letter in Tide's fist. "She broke up with you." He shrugged, "Shit happens. So what do you say? Want to be a Death Eater? Want to join the winning team and fight for the Dark Lord?"

Tide looked at Mer once more and then back at Death, his mind made up. "Yes." With that one word he sold his soul to the Dark Lord, there was no turning back.

Death gave a triumphant grin. "Come with me Dimitrov." He turned and began walking down the stairs of the stands.

Mer grabbed hold of Tide's shirt, having an unusually strong grip for a girl so little. 'Oh no you don't, you'll regret it Tide, don't you dare..' anguish was filtering into the girl's expression, feeling weighed down by the pain of losing another. 'I broke up with you because I thought you didn't love me...'

Her fingers clenched, tightening on his shirt. 'You know you're making a mistake.'

Tide shrugged, "I probably don't love you. Who knows? I've already agreed, I'm not going back on my word."

Death stopped halfway down the stairs and turned around to look back at them. " Xome on Dimitrov. I haven't got all day."

Tide pried Mer's hand from his shirt. "Goodbye." He walked down the stairs. Death led Tide up to the castle. Tide didn't look back.

She was almost completely crushed, but she knew she had to fight, she was a gryffindor after all. 'I'm not giving up on you, I never will, even if it kills me!' Mer called after them, unafraid.

The blind girl had gotten stronger too, there must be something redeemable in Tide if he had loved her.

'Nothing is for certain...there's always a way out.' she repeated more to herself, but it was still loud enough for the pair to hear. Scuffing the floor with her shoe, she was forced to follow them since there wasn't another exit from the stands.

She hummed a small song under her breath, simply listening to the sounds of brooms rushing past her ears. Meredia didn't care, she lay on the grass beneath them, her barrier would protect her.

'There once was a girl who felt love in the air,
but when it was crushed, she sensed only despair,
The anguish of loss had splintered her soul,
so the pain quenched the sun and consumed her whole..'

He walked out onto the pitch and saw Mer lying on the grass. He felt a sad smile trace his lips.

She was oblivious to his presence, continuing her haunting tune.

'When the girl walked she slipped with the breeze,
Like torn up old fabric she collapsed to her knees,
Lost in her woes and split open by lies,
She'd even forgotten that she was alive.'

He sat down next to Mer. "I'm sorry. For everything."

She jumped, almost crawling away from him, jolted mid-song.
'Apologies don't make up for everything, just like that.' she clicked her fingers, concluding her song swiftly.

'Then she just crumbled, diminished to dust,
And when she never woke up the people weren't fussed
For they hadn't realized that she was gone,
Preoccupied by clouds that they danced on'

'Who said the song was about me?' cautiously, she dropped the barrier she had been weaving for the last few minutes, folding her arms behind her head and staring vacantly. 'Why would you care anyway?'

Her face seemed to crumble, but she tried to remain stubborn. 'Bit late for that, don't you think? since you sold yourself to the very people who make me feel despair?'

He sighed and looked down at his left wrist, which he kept covered with sweat bands. "I wish I could take it all back."

'Wishing isn't going to get anything done. You told me you didn't love me that day, I can't unhear that.' it was clear she was still hurt and torn, she just hadn't been showing it to anybody else, save for Cynder.

He wanted nothing more than just to reach out and kiss her right then and there until she believed him. He just looked at the ground in shame. He didn't know how to fix this one.

She finally sat up, wrapping her arms around her knees protectively. 'You really hurt me, y'know.' tears had already began streaming from her eyes, voice cracking.

'Well that's because you're a poohead.' she muttered, staring into the space in front of her and not uncurling herself from her huddled position. Meredia couldn't bring herself to use a proper insult.
