Jim seizes him by the collar, smirking. "Because we're rivals. As much as you'd hate to deny it, because the only enemy for you is Eagle, we have become enemies."

I burst out into borderline crazy laughter, "Oh don't flatter yourself! You have a LONG way to go before even making it on my radar. You I just find to be a nat. A small, albeit troubling to swat, nat."

"But like all nats, they get on my nerves."

"Then you obviously underestimate me. I am much more than an insect."

A panther, Jim and Rich think at the same moment.

"Tell me this, what will Joachim Vollectia think if I were to offer him more pay than you?"

Jim chuckles. "Here's the thing. That fiancee of his you mentioned? It would be oh, so easy to just slip... and whoopsie daisy! A few 'accidental' wounds for dear Sapphire."

I check my watch and look toward the door as though expecting somone.

"Are we waiting on company, hmm?"

"No, you're just a very lucky man. You see, your minion usually has lunch around this time, but something must've kept him from hearing your words of inspiration towards his beloved."

"But luckily for me..." I push a small button on my cane and his words echo back, "Here's the thing. That fiancee of his you mentioned? It would be oh, so easy to just slip... and whoopsie daisy! A few 'accidental' wounds for dear Sapphire."

I smirk at him triumphantly, "Riddle me this Jimmy, how long does it take for a nat to fry in a bug zapper?"

He got you. Richard sounds disbelieving, and just a little bit frightened. Someone actually got you...

"You didn't get me," he says coolly, both to Query and to reassure Richard. "Do you really think my success depends on one person? He's nothing more than a tool. Do you really think I would place that much faith in him?"

I press the button again, "Oh PLEASE keep going, this is priceless!"

Jim! If you keep on like this you'll make Joachim angry!

"Oh, please, I'm not going to help you," Jim snorts at Query.

"You."

"Already."

"have."

"I could have helped more... but I won't~!"

Smirking, Jim pats Query's cheek like one would an affectionate dog.

I swat his hand away, "Bad nat! I don't know where you've been." I take out a handkerchief and start wrapping that part of my cheek.

How dare he touch the part of my face Ace has kissed?!

"Yes yes yes, take over the world, vengeance, blah blah blah..." I continue wiping my face off, paying that mindless task much more attention than I was giving him.

"Oh, no, I have no intention of taking over the world. The criminal world suits me fine. But you... you irritate me. At first it was fun, but now you're in my way!"

"I suggest we not let our mutual distaste of each other impede with our current adversaries. Small annoyance though you are, as I said before it's the small details that make up a riddle."

"Once I've made Sherlock take the fall, you'd better be ready..."

I smirk at him as though we were two men talking at a bar after an amusing evening, "I assure you, once Eagle has lost the game, I shall endeavor to find an ever more grissly pastime for you."
