Paris, France

A group of people ran out of the restaurant to try and find help while others tried to contact one quickly. 

Topher winked at her, indicating it was time to split.

In that instant she snapped into assassin mode, bolting to her feet and dragging Topher out of the restaurant with her. She hoped nobody had a fast enough reaction time to stop them, that would indicate she was falling off her game...

Her feet moved swiftly, like a dance routine that had been rehearsed constantly for a year. She didn't need to look back, or look down. 

'Coast clear?'

Topher looked around and sure enough the confusion and panic had left everyone totally oblivious. "And that ladies and gentlemen is how you dine-and-dash with style!" He sat up on his own two feet with a look of triumph on his face.

A smile on Amaya's face was never more genuine than it was when she'd committed a crime. Pulling Topher in for a hug, she started laughing. 'Wasn't a heist, but Amaya's back, bitches.' 


If anything she was glad to be almost back to her usual self.

"Hell yeah! Topher is back on his game!" He did a fist bump in the air as he hugged Amaya back. "Let's rock this town like a hurricane!"

'Your home town?' She pointed around to the streets of Paris, where she presumed Topher now lived in his pretty boy mansion. 

'If we're gonna mess up some shit first, I got something to ask ya.' Her happiness faltered, her smile becoming skewed as she remembered what her job was.

"What's that?"

She shoved her hands in her pockets, clasping onto a piece of paper. 'Know where Chimmy is or what happened to him? ' she didn't need to ask whether he was alive since she already knew the answer.

"No idea. We've had zero communicato recently. Why do you ask?"

She yanked out the piece of paper and thrusted it into his hands. It contained Joachim's picture and particular details about his abilities. 'I was assigned to kill him.' She averted her gaze, talking in a flat voice.

The joy of the evening died in a moment when he saw that picture, "Who's... hired you to do this?"

'People who have blackmailed me with the lives of my siblings and you.' Her tone became softer. 'Just know I'd never do it Topher. He left me to die in hospital - everyone did - but I wont hurt you, I never will.' She searched his expression for any doubt.

' I promise.'

"I know you won't." He had never been more sincere in his entire life than right now. He trusted Amaya completely and her word was her bond. 

"Maybe we can turn the tables, get these blackmailers canned instead!" He was desperate to get his friend out of this horrid situation. "What the hell is their deal with Joachim anyway?"

He stops and looks terrified, "Oh god who's pregnant?!"

'He inherited Chez's mafia, and my people don't like it. Basically, the old rivalry has come back and i'm stuck in the middle.' She rolled her shoulders into a shrug.

'I don't know where Joachim's been or who he's been in, i just got given these orders and i was gonna warn you about it. As soon as they realise i ain't done it, they'll be passed to someone else.' 

Being indifferent to the fate of her ex, Amaya was completely neutral on the issue, refusing to help Joachim nor fulfill her duty.

"So hey, here's a thought. You go back to them, and I sneak in, take photos, anonymously mail them to the aurors. All our problems are solved!"

'I can't let you do that.' She said flatly, taking back the parchment and shoving in her pocket. 'They'll know I was responsible. Then boom, there's a hit out on my family, and you. An organisation doesn't stop with people getting arrested Topher, that's why Joachim's the other leader now, and my dad's mafia still exists even though Crouch helped me cut his throat.'

Amaya often thought about how she'd saved Amy's life over her own father's, knowing it meant nothing to Crouch but a lot to Amaya. Abonacci had been evil, but that wasn't a proper justification.

Topher ran his hands through his hair in irritation, "I knew Chimmy was going to dig himself in too deep one day! How the hell did Chezhekov even pick him to take over? As far as I knew, Chezzy just saw him as an errand boy..."

She shrugged. 'I dunno. Despite Abonacci hating all of my siblings, i was his only daughter by blood, so that's why i got into his business...' Amaya clasped her fingers together in agitation. 'Maybe he conned someone, like i slit Abonacci's throat and they still let me take over.' 

'Either way, he's screwed, unless there's anything you can do to help. My hands are tied man.'

He sat down and thought to himself. Topher had had hits on himself before, and it was no secret Joachim didn't have many friends except him and a couple others...

"I got a lot of money now, maybe we can pay to have them call it off?" He knew it was a vain hope but he had to try.

'Think Joachim cares alot about Chez's mafia? I dont think its personal, its more a 'kill a leader' thing...'

"No I meant pay the guy who put the hit out to call it off.."

'I could tell them Joachim isn't the leader, not like they'd believe me. Got this little white haired girl who knows a lot about everyone and she knows Joachim is their leader now. Apart from that, they have no reason to call it off, unless she was wrong.' 

She muttered something to herself, cursing Donia for being so skilled at her job.

"Well hey, she's human right? People mess up!"

'I could get her to lie...' She suggested, wondering if her and Donia were close enough to ask such a favour. Amaya wasnt even doing this for herself, for once. 'she's the kind of girl who doesnt like mixing business with personal matters though. If i don't at least try to go after Joachim, no doubt she'll have to do it. And trust me, i'm the lesser of two evils right now.'

"Well is she the type that's weak at the knees? If so, maybe Joachim can 'charm' her out of it..."
