Joachim's Inn

He watched Amaya's reactions... and they were cold. Every bit of it. It was the exact behavior he had showed during his days in the winter of his life. 

Amaya was a lot of things, but cold was not one of them. She truly was afraid of something.

And for his friend's sake he'd find out what.

"Come on Meredia..."

Meredia nodded weakly, still staring at her sister with pleading eyes as they made their exit. She felt completely lost without her sister, unable to comprehend why she was acting so strange. It worried her.

Amaya however, refused to meet Meredia's gaze, simply muttering a 'fucking hell' under her breath and making a beeline for the wine cellar. She needed to find comfort in something and turns out she was pretty much on her own again.

After he was sure that Crest had left and thanking every star in the sky he still had his head on straight, he headed down to the wine cellar, "May..."

'Its a'ight, you're safe and not in the doghouse so everything is sunshine and rainbows.' She spoke sourly, covering her face with her hands.

"Come on May..." He walked up to her, "I'm sorry just... come on..." He tried to wrap his arm around her.

She sighed, biting back her sob and accepting the arm he placed around her. She should hate him for not defending her, but she knew it wasn't his fault.'I've fallen in love with a damn coward.' Her tone didn't even sound malicious, just despairing.

An immediate dive in his manhood took root at her words. Even to a morally askew man like Joachim, the unspoken code of men's conduct were a creed he held more dearly than the words of Christ.

"Look I..."

He stopped himself from getting defensive, "Yeah... I botched that up... I know it..."

'Please don't do it again, it would be nice to have someone on my side.' She sighed to herself, still trying to prevent tears rolling down her face. 'I ain't so used to being on my own no more.'

"I'm sorry, I was a douche. I'm just used to looking out for number one with all the time you were gone..." He was truly apologetic, a sound most rare from him.

A small sigh escaped her. 'Yeah, I get you. I'm sorry I left as well. I used to put my family ahead of everything else and all it brought was more crap.' She threaded her fingers through her hair, frustrated. 'I've missed ya, missed a hell of a lot of people too. Like where the hell is topher?

"Him?" Joachim thought for a few minutes, "Wouldn't really know. We barely see each other anymore..."

"Huh. Didn't seem the type to flake out on his friends.' She lifted her head from his shoulder, peering over at the corner of the room. It was strange, despite the fact her and Joachim couldn't physically be closer, she felt so distant from him.

'Can you keep a secret?' She blurted, refusing to look at him.

Joachim waved his hand nonchalantly, "bah, guy's probably just busy. Toph's a rock..." (see what I did there?  )

"Depends on the secret, but for you yeah..."

ic 'I uh... I see Lukas. Like, regularly, and we trade information and shit. Saved my life a few times, just like I saved his.' Amaya twiddled her thumbs absently.

"huh..." He lite his pipe and took in a huge puff as he felt a twinge of jealous, but he knew it didn't have much credence. Lukas stayed out of his business so he was fine with the guy.
"Just talking right?"

Something like that...' She muttered,rubbing her wrists. 'I can't really tell you much since I'm contracted not to.'

"That right?" Joachim hated being in the dark, "And what say me and Sawyer go and ask 'im?" Sawyer was basically Joachim's muscle in this inn, anything Joachim wanted done, Sawyer got done.

'You do know what Lukas needs to survive, right? Kitsune shit?' She was still rubbing her wrists from her encounter with Lukas earlier. 'Please don't tell me I'm the only one who checks stuff out.'

Not being very book savy, he scratches his head, "For the sake of argument lets say no..."

She rattled off the list, glad that her agreement with Lukas doesn't prevent her from doing so. 'Blood, strong emotions, that kind of stuff. Its hardcore, in a way. But giving him what he wants has meant he's saved my life a few times.' She reached for Joachim's hand, hoping he wasn't jealous.

Joachim took it but grumbled under his breath in disapproval over this method of getting help, "Where I'm from, you want someone to do you a solid, you cough up some coins..." 

"But hey, if he's helping you and that's it, I got no reason to be steamed right?"

'nah, don't be upset.' She insisted, smiling weakly. 'I get far more from him than he gets from me.'

"Good, if it was the other way around, I'd get Sawyer to cut off his johnson..."

'Like i'd let someone rip me off?' she raised a brow. 'Come on, you know i'm better than that.'
