Jack apparates them to his home.

Laying down in his hospital bed, healers worked on Crest around the clock. They fixed several of his broken bones, but his burns were a different matter. It would take a while to ensure they were properly healed. Not to mention, removing the message Crouch had branded onto Crest's chest was not one that was going away anytime soon. 

Many times had Crest contemplated leaving but his injuries made movement more of an agonizing chore than tangible progress towards the exit. And so he was forced to lay there...

Once the doctors let Crest rest, the door creaks open, revealing a woman in leather boots, a brown skirt that goes just past her knees, a white dress shirt, and round, clear glasses that cover her sharp, hazel eyes.  Her dirty-blonde hair is up in a pony-tail, her face emotionless.  "Good evening, Mr. Strayer..."

He glares up at her with cold disdain. She had taken Sam or any of his friends and family many time in the past, and forgiving wasn't a quality Crest possessed. He wouldn't say a word to her.

"I'm not here to do any harm... Simply observe..." Heather sits down on a chair next to Crest's bed, her infamous clipboard on her lap, her pen ready to start writing at any second.

"Get lost." He ordered in his demanding tone. Had he the ability, he'd arrest her on spot. But his injuries forbade it. So he had to settle for demands he knew he couldn't enforce.

"You don't have the strength to do anything, or else I wouldn't have even come in person..." Heather scribbles it all down, as she always does with every little thing.

"I could get someone..."

"Even if you did, I would get out faster than they would get here..."

His baleful eyes narrowed, knowing she was completely right. She had him completely dead to rights. "So what's the plan? Drug all the scientist and take me while I'm too weak to offer resistance?" He asked in a bored expression.

"No... I'm simply here to observe and chat."

"Seems like a bit of a wasted opportunity for you to remove one of your threats..."

"I would have thought you'd learn by now... People are too fascinating for me to kill, even if you are a threat."

"There's plenty of ways to incapacitate a person without killing them," And I know all of them first hand.


And of course, now his paranoid mind was going through all the ways Heather could cripple him for life if she so wished.

"Oh yes, I'm well aware.  Some of my experiments have made a wrong turn in the past.  But you're more interesting outside of a cell, as are your family and your enemies..."

"We're not playthings to you..."

"You all have psyche's that fascinate me, that's all there is to it.  Observing you all is as entertaining to me as watching a movie is for an average person."

He hated the idea that someone was observing him and those he cared about as a form of amusement. "You know nothing about me." He told her as though it were a firm fact. However many secrets she may know of him, there were more than one fortress in his head to safeguard his darker secrets.

"As a woman of observation, I'd say I know quite a bit about you... I'll admit, I can't know EVERYTHING since I, unfortunately, can't read minds."

Thankfully she knows nothing of Legillimens...


"No one knows much about me. I take pains to be sure of that." Sure enough he did all he could to make sure when he finally died, he'd just be an unsung hero. Just a passing, transient phantom and nothing more.

"You know, you can learn a lot about someone simply by observing their behavior and actions.  As a psychiatrist, I watch very closely to help my patients solve their problems..."

"I'm no patient of yours. To be frank, you shouldn't even have patients."

"Yet I do.  And I do, in fact, help them, whether you believe it or not.  It is, in fact, my job."

"I don't believe anything I don't see with my own eyes. And I've sen enough of what you actually do."

"Furthermore I've done some digging on you..."
