Madam Pomfrey couldn't believe the activity going through the school recently. First Eugene was just starting to make strides toward recovering and now Artemis Strayer comes in with the help of another student as though he's been through the war.

"So much to do..."

Jack is by Eugene's bed, feeling sorrow for his still-injured friend.

Sarah walks in, seeing what's going on.

Eugene started to stir, the groggy fog in his mind slowly lifting, "J..jack...?"

Artemis was recovering well from his treatments, but the wounds left on his soul were too hard to heal. 
River couldn't be trusted. Not anymore. He wanted to believe one of his first friends could be but all evidence pointed against it.

Jack looks down at Eugene, "Eugene!" 

Sarah sees her father here, looking to see her mother helping out some other poor soul that got injured.  She needs to tell someone about that man.  She knows that man is going to come after her again.  

Sarah knows that her mom will help in that motherly way, but that way won't help.  Her dad will solve things violently.  But then she sees Artemis.  He's a Strayer!  He comes up with a strategy and takes action!  She walks over to him, "Hey, Artemis..."

Eugene, through his heavy burns sustained by Crouch manages to look up at him, "Life..."

Artemis groans as he rolled over onto his side but greeted Sarah pleasantly, "Good day Sarah, how are you?"

Sarah's eyes widen and she immediately feels a little guilt.  So instead of getting to her point, she asks, "What happened?"

"What about life?"

"I was taken prisoner by... Crouch And River... but I'll be alright, thanks for the concern though."

Eugene tried to sit up, despite the overwhelming pain, "Life Jack. Life is what matters! It's the only natural force that human beings have yet to fully grasp!" His epiphany was all consuming, even the mere thought of his new obsession drove him to a state of ecstasy and his mind rolled with endless possibility.

"What is life? What is death? Can we answer any of these question?"

"Wow... I'm sorry!"  Sarah doesn't really know what to say.  He looks like he's in such a bad state, she's not sure if she should bother him right now...

Jack smiles at his excitement, but lightly pushes him to lie down.  "Those are questions that only the dead can answer..."

OOC You know, I like this new Eugene, I think it actually works!  I FINALLY found a reason to like him!

"I'll be okay, I'm the good hands with madame Pomfrey." The nurse nodded to him in appreciation for his compliment. "Is there something I can help you with?"

"No Jack, those are questions the dead used to be able to only answer. I have tapped the plane between life and death, and I was amazed by it. I simply must understand it, comprehend it, control it!"

IC  Jack smiles, "How do you plan to do all that?"

Sarah bites her lip.  "I was going out to practice my magic, and this man came to me... He called me Victoria, thinking I was his daughter..."

Artemis grimaced at the news, "Casimir..." 

"That I don't quite know yet, the secret to such forces of ying and yang have yet to be grasped... I'll need to research what others have done."

Sarah's eyes widen.  "You know him?"

"This is an interesting new side of you, Eugene."  Jack smiles.

"Sadly yes, he was a particular knowledgeable practitioner in the dark arts. He came up with many spells and magical rituals that thwarted my families efforts for a while. But after the end of his daughter in a raid, he dropped off the map for what we were hoping was for good. Seems that isn't the case."

"Death gives you new perspective on things. And coming back from it, even more so."

"No doubt about it!"  Says Jack.

"And now he's thinking that I'm his daughter..."

"He must've gone mad with grief... almost makes me feel bad for the man." Artemis shook his head down at his lap. Without prior knowledge of Casimir's misgivings, Artemis's might've felt full sympathy for the man.

"Let's get started at once!" Eugene's horribly burnt form tried again to rise.

Jack puts a hand on Eugene, "We will... But you need more time to heal." 

"What should I do?  He's going to come after me again..."

"I can heal as I work..." He tried to plead with the man he saw as his true father.

"Well, that's the question isn't it? On the one hand, you could try to find out what he's planning or you could keep your distance and leave it to me..." However Artemis's injuries were too severe to properly allow him to work.

"No.  Heal first.  My wife can help it go faster."  Jack says.

"No... You need to rest, Artemis.  Thank you for the information, though.  That should make things a bit easier..."

"Oh how my ambitions must wait for my fallible body.." Eugene silently lamented as he nodded his head reluctantly.

"I'd recommend either trying to find his home and investigating incognito or following him closely to track him."

Jack looks down, remembering when his eldest daughter was nearly killed by that damned Raven and her posse.  "Sally has amazing healing abilities..."  

"For all I know, he could be following me closely as we speak..."

"Oh I know, and perhaps they could be instrumental in this newest experiment with life and death..." Eugene tapped his chin contemplative.

Artemis glanced over at the door from the corner of his eye, noticing the edge of a brown, dirty shoe, "I think you may have a point." He pointed toward the door silently.
