Early Years

His laugh increased in volume as Kara came barreling down the stairs with her friend
"Kara honey slow down or you'll trip." Kara nodded in a hurry
"I'll be careful daddy!" She went outside, James returned his attention to Agatha
"I hate to darken the subject but...Kara still has nightmares."

Agatha's hopeful face returned to an old familiar somberness, "The same things as before?"

Christophe chased after his goof companion to the outside and got ready to play.

He nodded grimly
"I'm sorry, I wish I could help Kara but I'm on the outside when it comes to her eyes..." His voice reflected deep regret

Kara pointed to the back steps
"That's my goal, and yours is..." She thought for a second "the end of the fence! Ok...go!" She ran, attempting to grab the ball

"I've already told you all I know on the subject.. there are secrets that only my father has tapped into..." Agatha regretfully informed.

Christophe ran forward to try and kick the ball before her, proving to be quite the athlete.

James sighed heavily, staring a bit out the window behind her
"The things that could happen to Kara...scare me more than anything. Kara one of those people that it just hurts you to see her sad, whether you know her or not."

Kara grunted as he got the ball. She ran next to him, attempting to get it from in between his feet. Kara was quite the competitor

"I understand, you'd do anything for Kara just as I would for my Christophe..." Agatha watched their child, completely oblivious to the perils they discussed.

He tried his best to keep it away from her but a small trip over his own feet ensured she got it away from him.

"She says she sees things, people when she's asleep, and everything she sees she draws."
He handed Agatha a paper with people drawn on it, all of them had blue eyes

Kara kicked it into her goal and cheered
"First point for me!" She giggled

Agatha looked at the drawing and her hopes fell faster than concrete in a pool, "Home..."

Christophe stood up after getting his suit dirty and brushed it off, "Good job!" He laughed at the good time he was having as he picked up a small amount of mudd and threw it all over the place.

Kara cringed at the mudd
"No mud fights! I can't get my dress dirty!" She joked

James looked at her
"Home?"

"Oh.. sorry..." Christophe laughed at the mischief he had caused.

"Yes, it's where I lived before I got free of my father..." Agatha had tried to distance herself from the horrid memory but no matter how far it seemed, a stray thought of that place seemed to bring it right back to her.

Kara giggled and sat down in the grass.
"It's okay, I don't care..." She quickly threw mud onto his clothes " but you might!" She laughed

"Oh, I'm sorry." James quickly took the picture back

"Hey!" even though he protested he still was amused by the messy fun.

"It's not your fault... you can't choose your family." Agatha's features had changed back for a split second to the depressed girl she had been when they first met.

Lara laughed and splashed more mud at him, dirtying her dress hem

James tried to smile warmly
"We'll were both here and our children are happy. And to me that's what matters most."

Agatha smiled gently as she watched their mud fight out the window, "They seem to get along very well.."

James watched as well
"Before Kara could never smile like that, Christophe is literally her happiness in a nutshell."

"Is that right? I had no idea he had such an impact on her..."

James nodded
"Now I can't see Kara growing up without him around."

"well so long as we stay here, he will be.."

Suddenly outside Kara screamed. It was high and terrifying, like someone was attacking them.
Someone was tugging on her while keeping Christophe pinned to the ground.

"H..hey! Get off me!" Topher struggled to try and get up but to no avail as a horrified agatha ran out to try to aide her son as best she could!

James rushed outside with Agatha to find his daughter held close by a boy who seemed only a few years older than her. He looked at them almost welcoming
"Late for the party are we?" He looked down at Kara "The girl is coming with me."

"No she isn't!" Christophe looked up at the unknown entity and then all of a sudden his eyes flashed an eerie blue for half a second.

Agatha ran forward to try and grab onto Kara to try and pull her back.

The boy recoiled a bit in pain, growling, he pushed Topher to the ground with his mind. And as Kara reached out to Agatha, her eyes too flared an iridescent blue and the boys entire body jolted like he'd been paralyzed and he collapsed like a ton of bricks.

The impact proved too much for the young boy and he was knocked into a blisful darkness.

Agatha grasped Kara's hand and pulled her into her, hugging her into her body to guard her. "Don't worry Kara, it'll be alright..." She assured her gently.

James went over and inspected the boys crumbled body
"He isn't dead..." Then he noticed something, a name tag that read Henry. He looked over his shoulder at Agatha
"Agatha, I think this boy was here by someone else's accord..."

Kara continued to weep
