Hospital Wing

"Well this sucks..."

What else could I really say? Cut up, broken arm, and all around tired. There wasn't any way good guys willing go through this crap.

But for some reason I did, and you know what? It's actually kinda refreshing to not get scorned for what I did.

'Joachim?' she poked her head around the corner, peering into the hospital wing with a searching gaze. Her hands were folded behind her back, holding something.

"The one and only." I yell out to her inviting her in.

She grinned, stepping inside and perching on his bedside, remaining wary of his injuries. 'Guess what i brought?' Amaya pulled out a firewhiskey bottle from behind her back.

'You're going to have to put up with me being here for a while.'

"A hot girl who pours drinks down my throat? I think I can live with that." I wink at her.

'I suppose I can be a nurse..' she murmured, uncorking the bottle and taking a swig herself. But I'm not buying an outfit she added in her head sarcastically.

'How've you been feeling?'

"Shit.. Why do good guys do this crap!"

'In all honesty most of them don't constantly throw themselves at a vampire.' she pointed out, still holding the bottle. 'They do it to protect their loved ones, and the rest of the people they care about.' that's what i do anyway.

'Trust me, i know how it feels. I've been put in a coma twice.'

"Well, at least I get to rest up for a bit, unsung as always.."

'You're not unsung, you're a hero. To me anyway.' she placed a delicate kiss on his lips, smiling. 'You probably stopped me going and killing myself.'

"So... That's what it's like huh?"

'Like what is like? Being a hero?' she gave him a smirk. 'Usually people don't get so beat up in the process...'

"Yeah, put it this way, most of the people I work with don't get medals."

'Neither do mine, but i've gotten used to working alone now..' she shrugged, before remembering her brother. 'Yet that's all changing again.'

Amaya started running a hand through his hair, smoothing it down. 'You were amazing in battle by the way, i haven't seen anything so impressive.' she admitted.

"When you grow up with nothing, you learn to defend what you take."

'Whereas I grew up fighting for the little I already had. 7 Freaking siblings to look out for.' she chuckled, shaking her head. 'Thank you, by the way.'

"Thanks? What for?"

'For protecting me, for caring about me. she gave him a light smirk. 'Believe me, gratitude hardly ever leaves me lips.' Amaya raised the bottle questioningly.

'Firewhiskey?'

I smirk back at her, "well thank YOU too..."

'What, for the drink?' she chuckled, placing the bottle to his lips cautiously.

"That..." I push the bottle away a bit with smirk, "and making me give a crap."

'Well uhm.. you're welcome.' she blinked, smiling genuinely. 'I told you before that you weren't hopeless.'

"But don't think this means I'm going to be one of those sappy 'rainbows-out-my-ass' types"

'I damn well hope not, i don't wanna change who you are, you wouldn't be the J-man then.' she winked, grinning playfully. 'In all seriousness, been there, done that.'

Amaya snorted and rolled her eyes.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it!"

"Figuratively speakin' of course." I lift my arm up.
