Passing through on his way to the Hall, Chase doesn't notice Jim until the man steps smoothly into his path.

"I hear you don't like riddles," Jim chuckles, folding his hands behind his back and tilting his head to the side. "Or a certain person who tells them."

Chase narrows his grey eyes and stays silent.

"I have a problem with a IN Query," Jim continues, now slowly pacing back and forth. "And I know you do, too." He stops. "I want to help. I will offer you and your sweetheart my assistance in stopping him. He's a nuisance to me, dear, and I really can't have him in the way. I'd rather help to remove him though-"

"I don't wish to remove him," Chase interrupts, frowning. "Not in the way you clearly mean. I just want him to leave us alone."

"Which I will help you with, because he's bothering me as well." Jim rolls his eyes. "Just promise me this: if you ever end up facing him, however many times it happens, I want to be there. I will be on your side and I will offer you all the help I can. Is that a fair deal?"

Unfortunately, Chase only knows about the existence of Moriarty, but not his face. Anyway, he promised himself long ago that he'd leave him to another detective, and so distanced himself from ever being able to recognise Moriarty.

Chase shakes his hand. "Only when it comes to Query. Otherwise, I have other obligations."

Jim smiles like the cat that got the cream. He has no intention of screwing Chase over, but if it comes to a choice... "So be it."

She wrote a short letter to Ace, keeping it short and concise like she always did.

For a while, she just remained stood outside the entrance, wondering how she'd gotten in such a position. Amaya simply felt... nothing, she couldn't comprehend what she was doing.

she laughed, shaking her head in exasperaiton. 'I see no point in staying anymore, i've royally screwed up.'
