I walk upstairs to do some procrastinated Astronomy homework and find Saph up here, "Heya..."

She smiled a little still gazing out toward the forest "hey Toph.. what brings you up here?"

"Just some homework, ya?"

"pondering life mostly... I love how disconnected from everything it feels up here."

"Ohh... deep stuff." I chuckle.

She nodded "had a lot on my mind recently.." she unconsciously twirled a strand of newly deepened blue hair.

"Wanna talk 'bout it?"

She bit her lip a little thinking "I guess I could.. Chimmy's your best friend anyway so maybe you can help me make sense of what's going on with him and Moriarty."

"You mean the weird guy? Hell I don't even know what's up with him there."

She sighed a little "I used to work with Jim.. he's not all there if ya know what I mean.. absolutely brilliant.. but lacking in compassion."

Topher: "Oh dandy... another nutcase..."

Joachim: I start walking up but stop to eavesdrop on them.

"I just don't want to see Chimmy hurt.. or left to take the blame for what ever Jim has cooked up... whatever he's promised is a lie.. simply means to an end.. "

"Oh man, this will be like Chezhekov all over again.."

I mimic Joachim's voice, 'Oh yeah Top, I found this great guy! Really a straight shooter! We can make it big with him.'

I scoff, "One poker game later, I'm on the run, almost had my girlfriend killed and almost died..."

She sighed a little leaning over the tower's wall "I don't know if this is quite the same.. Jim is a genius.. no doubts there. So when he leaves a blazing trail everyone gets burned in his path..the problem is he has a silver tongue. He can manipulate you into thinking your wildest dreams are coming true.. that he actually cares for anyone other than himself.."

"ooohhhh crap. Chimmy will be putty in his hands..."

"I was the same way.. until Jim put me in a situation I didn't think I was going to get out of alive.. it took that moment for me to realized how hardcore I had been played.."

"Well... how do we stop him?!"

"I wish I knew... the only thinkg I can think of is to try to talk some sense into Chimmy... but I know I didn't believe anyone when they tried to warn me.. it's like he's inside your mind. Prompting you to do what he wants.." She couldn't help it as she kicked the wall a little "why did he ever have to come here?! nothing goes as it should with Jim around.."

I shrug, "because god hates us?"

"I don't know, I've basically gotten used to be screwed over."

"apparently that's all anyone else is good for now...morals are completely gone.. and everyone is a hypocrite.. " she seemed to slowly be getting more and more angry, he thoughts flashing through her times with Jim.

"Well I wouldn't say that, the Strayers are still just a pair of tights away from being superheroes."
