His face falls, crumpling into a sad look. It's clear by now that Jim's act has extended far beyond that; in fact, he now believes in the existence of Richard as well.

A dangerous, foolish mistake. Perhaps Richard has really been there all along anyway, and then when Jim decided to use him... well.
