The Great Hall

She actually smiled, her first genuine smile since her family had died. Meredia allowed herself to relax, even though she was keeping up a stoic pretence for everyone else around her.

'Thank you, i think i need it.' her voice had dropped, not wanting Tide to overhear.

brb, taking a shower, be back in about 1/2 an hour.

He smiled and just hugged her. "I'm here for you, don't forget that. If you need to talk or anything, I've always got an open ear."

He shrugged indifferently. "There's nothing you can do about it now. What's done is done."

'i suppose we're here now, that's all that should matter..' she exhaled, thinking again. 'Their funeral will be soon..'

"When? I would like to attend, even though I didn't know them all that well."

"Will she be okay?"

"Good," he said, relieved. It would be a shame if Mer lost another family member. She's already been through too much.

He laughed and replied, "Your sister must be one tough cookie then."

Jealousy was to the boiling point in Tide. He stood abruptly and stomped out of the Hall.

'Trust me, all Desouzas are.' she carefully detached herself for him, actually feeling some of her optimism return to her. 'I better go, i need to check up on my other sister, thanks again.' Meredia rose to her feet and bowed to him politely, before scampering out of the hall.

Cha-CHINK!!

Sitting at the table counting my ill-gotten galleons, I can't help but think more could be gotten.

Silently, Jim watches him from the edge of the hall. He knows this young man.

Joachim. Thief. One of the smaller members of the criminal web, which Jim doesn't usually familiarise himself with, but since coming to Hogwarts...

Well. Those at Hogwarts must be known.

Axel: 'I'm a criminal.' -peers around and sees nobody cares-

I look over at the weird guy looking at me, "what's the matter, never seen a guy before?"

OOC jump in Axel!

He strolls over, hands tucked into his pockets, an amused smile on his face. "I recognise you," he says softly. With his gentle features and lilting Irish accent, it's impossible to detect any threat on his face - for the moment.

"Yeah.... And.....?"

Chuckling, Jim picks up an apple from the fruit bowl. "Your name is Joachim, you are a thief, you spent quite a while on the streets. You are or were close with Topher Noir at one point. You still continue to be a thief even though you have no need anymore. I could go on, but..."

He shrugs and takes a bite of the apple.

I shrug, people knowing about me really wasn't a scary thing to me, "ya hear right... Ya got a point to this?"

"Oh hey Axel!!"

He tilts his head towards Axel in acknowledgement. "Axel. Haven't heard about you in a while, dear."

He swallows the bite of apple. "My point, dear Joachim, is that I know about you. Knowledge gives people an advantage..."
