"Good work Sam!" I smile at her prudly and hold it open for everyone.

The Auror proceeded to peer outside, narrowing when he couldn't spot anything inconspicuous. 'Strengthen the security on the front entrances!' he ordered, shouting down the corridor.

Boris hadn't realized that's what the invaders wanted.

Ace nodded, slipping through the door without comment, planning ahead in her mind.

I smile back at Crest, feeling a little more confident now, staying close to him.

Walking us inside, I address everyone in little more than a whisper since we were in enemy territory now. "Scatter, find what we need."

Ace took no time trying to locate the file room, breaking away from the others.

Boris then instructed them to relieve security on the main entrances, nothing was outside anyway. 'I'll patrol the building myself.'

I take a shaky breath, still staying close to Crest, feeling better around him.

Leading with Sam close behind I apply some gel to my hair to turn it brown. Luckily none at the Ministry but a select few know me by face, just name.

Boris rounded the corner, unwittingly coming closer to Sam and Crest with each pace he took.

Ace had snuck around another entrance, frowning. She was going to be lost soon..

Keeping my composure I turn around and kiss Sam to obscure our faces from view.

I stay close behind Crest, trying to keep myself from thinking negative and anxious thoughts that would hold me back. It's going to be fine... We have an advantage; Crest said so.

Unfortunately for them, the kissing piqued Boris's interest even more. 'Kissing on the job?' he stopped, standing to his full height, broad shoulders tensing slightly as his hand had already reached for his wand.

"What? A man cannot see his wife when they cross the hall?" I ask indignantly, as though Boris was just a stuffy annoyance than much else.

He paused, considering, brows knitting together. 'Who's your superior?'

I just follow Crest's lead, but don't say a word. I don't want to mess things up.

To keep up my persona I need to keep up my appearance, I grow so weary of deception.

"Let's just say a woman who blows her nose with people like you." I scowl at him, "Now can you waste no more of my time? I don't see my wife very often because of our hours!"

there were only two people really above him in this section of the Ministry, and one of them was Cayden. He scowled, before nodding. 'You should be working anyway, we've got a possible invasion. Perhaps you should stay by my side..'

Ace peeked her head around the corner, spotting the pair and watching them all for a moment.

This was a double edged sword, if we go with him, there's a chance we could learn more. But if we do that, there's also a chance he could discover us.

"An invasion? Isn't that your job to stop them?"

"Dearest, what do you think?"

Ace made a gesture to catch either Crest or Sam's attention, mouthing go with him.

Boris nodded slowly. 'I've been assigned to this emergency, me, Cayden and Descole. But all the old woman's doing is sitting in her office.' he sighed.

'Are you coming or not?'

I blink, blanking on what to say. No... Not now... Don't show fear; that will only raise suspicion. Follow Crest's lead... He's with me... It will all be okay... I look up at Boris, trying my hardest to keep a straight face. "Yes, I thought that was your job..."

I catch Ace's gesture out of my peripherals, "This best not waste time, I don't want to be behind on work because of another false alarm."

Ace nodded again, before scurrying back the way she'd come. She would search on her own for now.

Boris went through the motions quickly and sharply, proving his appointment as leader. 'We have no evidence of the presence of invaders yet, but if they're here, they haven't taken the front entrances so we were going to check the back passages and lower levels. This includes the records..'

I hold Sam's hand slightly squeezing it in fear myself.
