A small snort, Descole gave a slight laugh.

"I've survived off of a little sleep before, this is nothing. But I'll get rest. This time, you need to keep to your promise and rest too, all right?"

He paused and exhaled, glancing at his tea- was it going cold..?
He raised the mug to his lips and took a small sip taking his hat off and placing it in his lap with another sigh.

"And besides, what's been keeping you from your sleep this time..?"

'Just you.' She admitted. 'You're going to work yourself to death, and you wouldn't even notice or care..' her teeth had clamped down on her bottom lip with the slight surge of nerves and...worry?

A surprised look, Descole blinked from under his mask, looking at Cayden in shock of her answer.

"Annete... listen,"
His tone had become rather soft.
Funny, even his voice cold bend such a way..
"It will do you no good loosing sleep over my own condition. I promise you I won't overwork myself... I just have things on my mind I want to get done. Things for the Ministry, things for my own use, and my normal job. And anyway, I don't mind feeling a touch tired.."

A long sigh, Descole turned his own face to the floor, cupping his hands around the mug, taking in the warmth of it.

"... Perhaps you're correct, Annete. But it doesn't matter, not really. The effort is being put somewhere I enjoy to work at. Inventing, and ridding the world of the blackness. It's a good purpose.."

'But you are hinderering yourself, if you dont get enough rest you will not work as efficiently, delaying progress.' she touched his arm lightly, clearly concerned.

A pause, Descole sighed again, scowling.
He raised his face to glance at Cayden carefully, thoughtfully.

"I suppose. But as long as I get the job done in a timely manner, it's not a problem. I'll be fine."

A short breath, Descole frowned slightly.

".... You vex me, Annete. How you manage to worry so much for me. But I'll rest this time around... I suppose it would be for the better.."

A pause, he looked right at her eyes, scowling.

"And when I do, you should, as well."

A small smirk, he glanced at their hands, raising her hand to his lips and giving it a small kiss.

"As you wish.."

Another chuckle. Their situation was, indeed, wonderfully impossible.

"And how we live with it, I'll never know.."

A smile, Descole finished his tea and set the cup down.

"It really is. And thank you for the tea, I suppose it's a bit better than wine..?"

A chuckle, the man was surprised at how much she made him light up.
Him... one of the coldest, unforgiving men... and yet..

"Well, I must admit. The tea is wonderfully relaxing."

A pause, he followed her gaze and blinked.

"Peculiar..? In what way..?"

A blink, Descole frowned slightly.

He understood the feeling.

"... I suppose that makes sense... maybe for me, it's always been because I've just desired for so long to see Clare again. That I wanted her love too much to see anything else.."

(( Crest would be so freaking out right now. Like "da fuq is this? da fuq is that? DA FUQ IS HAPPENING?" ))

A small scowl, he looked away from Cayden for a moment, thinking.

"I think now.... I know I still miss Clare. But now, all I want to do is make sure that I do what she would want me to, and what she would believe I could... I think she would want me to move on..."

A smile found it's way over his lips, and he raised his free hand, slipping his mask off and exhaling slowly, letting his stormy eyes turn back to Cayden.

"And as I've learned to, I realize that I really can love someone besides her."

A raised brow, he glanced at Cayden with surprise.

"Why would you think I didn't? What reason would there be to deny it?"

With a small shake of her head, Cayden opened her eyes and moved forwards, pressing her mouth neatly to his. 'Well, I love you too Jean Descole.'

A surprised blink, the man felt his body heat up, a shadow of a smile flashing over his lips.
Someone who he could love, who actually did love him back...
Despite everything, she put up with him, and she loved him.
How did she manage it...

"You're a good woman, Annete. And both of us need our rest..."

what did you expect? 'Cayden prised her lips open and her tongue slipped lazily all over his face, covering it with slobber'? xD

'And you are a good man too Jean, you just don't realize it sometimes.' she broke away, resting her forehead on his, taking the time to study his eyes up close.
