Dumbledore's Office

'I know you are all awake.' I say, watching all the other portraits carefully. 'You were headmasters, not actors. No disrespent meant, of course.'

Dumbledore awoke with a mild start but this didn't phase him much as he looked down upon River, "Ahh Rier..." He slightly smiled through his half moon glasses, "How wonderful to see you again."

Snape looked at her, his eyes just as baleful as they had been in life. He didn't celebrate that the struggles of his life had been fruitful or meaningful. He didn't do it for any stupid heroism, he did it for not anyone but Lily...

'Id say the same sir...but i think it hurts too much.' I shake my head as I look past him. 'Professor Snape. Am I going to end up like you? You did everything for a person you loved...and you died for it...'

"How would I know? Clairvoyance was more of Trelawney's area of speciality..." He spoke with little regard to the prophetess.

Dumbledore looked over at Snape, "Great caused warrant great sacrifice at times I'm afraid. I presume you refer to your brother and husband?"

'I failed you, sir.' I looked at dumbledore, my eyes sparkling with tears. 'You wanted...you needed me to stop him and i couldn't and now I have too. I have to go up against him and...i might die. I know that.'

"Might is one of the strongest words I know. Might could make any number of scenarios, both plausible and implausible possible. You may die, or you may live. It's all a matter of circumstance and faith to try to make one of those scenarios real..."

"River, you've always had a very finite amount of faith in yourself.." Dumbledore sighed and shook his head, "when you are capable of much more than you'll ever know..."

'Im not capabe! I had a chance and i didnt do it! i coulnt!'

The former potion's master rolled his eyes, "If I gave up at the slightest hitch as readily as you do we'd all be celebrating 'Voldemort Day' now wouldn't we?"

'Put yourself in my shoes, sir. The people I love are not dead. You did not kill Harrys mother. Were as i am looking at the idea of killing my brother.'

"I as good as pulled her! All that was missing was my uttering of the curse!" Snape defended angrily.

"Calm yourself Severus." Albus tried to soothe his confidant. "There may be a way you can defeat him without killing him..."

'Sir, there is no way we can stop im...i cannot go through this every few years because he escapes and i have to be the one to put him back.'

"Then ensure he never escapes again. You know you cannot fail. Any world run by Crouch is not a world. It is a pile of ashes and soot in eternal darkness. He'll care little for the power he'd hold over others, just the suffering of the entire globe..."

His eyes opened in realization, a new clear answer, "You could render him powerless..."

'Take his powers? how?'

"There are many magics and secrets in this world River. And I have associations that may aide you in finding them..."

'Like who?'

"There's a man in the Department of Mysteries named Mr. Tremel. I had the pleasure of knowing him for several years, really quite a brilliant mind about ancient magics. He may be of some help."

'Sir...you do realise its like, impossible to get to the Mysteries, right? I cant just walk up there and ask for him..'

"If you write to him and let him know of your association with me, he'll come to you I'm certain..."

'And if he doesnt?'

"There's no reason he wouldn't..."

'Sir...you always see...saw... far to much good in people. You always did hope for the best.'

"It's all I can hope for in people... I've worked with him for many years.."

I sigh. 'Ill write to him. is there any parchemt in this place?'

"If memory serves there should be some on the top drawer of my old desk..."

I went nd searched though, finding some. I read the letter aloud as i wrote it.

you dont know me, but I knew Dumbledore and apparently he has more faith in me than most other people in the world. He told me to contact you because you have something that will help me. I need a way to...get rid of someones magic.
