St Mungos Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injurys

The hea;er starts to frown at him before recignising the person in his arms. Calling for help, she pushed over a bed. 'Put her on here.'

He stayed by his wife's side while the healers attended to her.

THe healer looked at him sadly. 'Sir. Im afraid your going to have to leave for the moment while we help her. she needs the space and....you will not like what we have to do.' She guesters to the door. 'If you can go and sit down...I can come and explain to you what is going on.'

He glared at the healer before doing as told.

The healer looks around the room at her colleagues. 'be careful with her. I dont need to tell you all who she is.'
She walked out after death and sat down opposite him. 'What has she told you?'

"Just that she is sick and that she can't disapparate any more. I was trying to get her to tell me everything when she collapsed."

'Its not just disaperating, thats just one of the first things that goes.' The healer sighs. 'River has a rare illness, one that most do not even know about. It is like a cancer- it is a tumor as such, one that grows on the brain and not only damags things like memory, balance and personality, but one that also effects mer magical abilities. It...strips her of them.'

"So she can't do magic anymore? Her memories, balance, personality, and magic are all going away?" He couldn't believe what he was hearing. He knew about the muggle illness called cancer and he knew about the consequences of such an illness.

He blinked a few times before feeling his body go lax in the seat. "Am I going to lose her?" he whispered.

'We dont have a cure.' the healer said quietly, compassion for both death and river in her eyes. 'I am so sorry.'

Ah, man that sucks.


No. No, no, no. "No." He met the healer's eyes. He was filled with a determination that was not going to be swayed. "No. You find a cure for her or you and everyone you know and love will die along with her."

Damn, going a bit wild there aren't you?


No. I will not lose her. I refuse to. I am a Dolohov, I will not be given news of the "inevitable" when I know that I can fix it.

'We are doing everything we can for her already.' A scream filled the air, a scream umistakeablely Rivers, and the healer winced. 'Everything we can think of...and its not a cure, it will just keep her here longer...longer and in pain. Sir, you can threaten us as much as you want, but suprisingly, we dont want her to die either.'

"Then fix her!" He gripped the arms of the chair in his anger.

'No one knows how to! This illness, its not known enough to have a cure. its a mystery to everyone. And would you really ant us to take the risk of killing her with something just because you want her well?'

"Yes. Please." He fought every physical urge his body wanted to give into since the news of his wife's illness was revealed. "Is there anyone who can help? Any sort of specialist?"

the healer shakes her head. 'Not that we have found yet. River...She ony came to us a few days ago, and nly because a friend brought her in. She was so scared, she didnt know what was happedning to her, she just knew it was bad. and she left the hospital against our wishes, because she wanted to.' The healer sighed. 'She wanted to give you something to remember her by. thats what she told me. I dont think....I didnt think she lanned on telling you. i didnt think she planned on getting well.'

"Do everything in your power to save her."

He rested his forearms against his thighs and buried his head in his hands. "Please leave me."

She nods. 'Go in and talk to her when you are ready. She needs you.' the healer stood up and walked into the room River was in.

He waited until the healer had left the room before breaking down the barriers and sobbing. He hadn't cried in years. Dolohov's never cried. His dad would have beat the daylights out of him if he could see his son crying over the possibility of losing a loved one. He honestly didn't care though.

I'm just gonna... Go. Ahriman disappeared from Death's consciousness and left him to his devices.

This is what I get for letting her in, for letting her get to me and make me love. I'm going to lose her. There's going to be a day where I won't be able to see her, hold her, kiss her. This is why your dad raised you to not let people in. He didn't want you to know this feeling. The feeling of complete helplessness while you watch the one person you love more than yourself die.


You should have listened to him, Dolohov. You shouldn't have let her in. You shouldn't have let her break those walls that you constructed around yourself when you were young.

He couldn't bring himself to regret letting her in. She was, by far, the best thing that had happened to him. He wiped his face with his shirt and stood to go see his wife. While he still had time to.

IC He smiled but it didn't reach his eyes. "Hello, love." He approached her and sat down beside the bed. He reached over and took her hand. He brought it to his lips and kissed her knuckles.

I study his face as my eyes fill again. 'I made you cry.'

"Yeah. You should feel accomplished. You, River Dolohov, have managed to be one of two people who have made me cry. The other being my father," he joked with her.

I shake my hed slightly, reaching up and stroking his cheek. 'Im sorry.'

"I'm not. It means that I care about you enough to not want to see you die." He rested his forehead against her hand that was still captured in his. "I love you...so much."

'I know. Thats why....I just wanted to give you on day. One thing to...remember me by.' I laguh. 'guess it didnt work out quiet well.'
