Slytherin Common room

"Good for you. My party's only just begun." He smirked and winked at her.

Iris sat at the piano that had been magically erected in the Common room months ago. She played softly so as not to catch anyone's attention. Though not many people were in the common room at this time for some reason.

Ivan walked jollily into the Common room, humming his Russian song to himself with a sweet smile on his face.

He stopped in the doorway, however, when he heard the piano playing, his expression flattening and his voice going silent.

After a moment, he grinned, speaking with his naturally heavy Russian accent.

"You play very beautiful music, Ja~"

She paused in her playing for a moment, not turning around. Eventually she continued. "Thank you." She couldn't tell who it was, she didn't recognise the voice.

Ivan grinned, his eyes sparkling happily, his sweet face holding a kind smile.

"Back in my homeland, I would often play the violin."

A pause, he gave a small laugh, and added in a slightly darker tone.
"Before I would smash people's faces in with it~ Kolkolkolkol~"

She paused her playing and held a note on a G sharp, it's sound haunting the otherwise quiet common room. She turned around on the piano stool and crossed her legs, resting her hands daintily on her knee. "Who are you?"

The boy smiled brightly.

"My name is Ivan Braginski. I just came to Hogwarts from my cold home in Russia. It be a pleasure to meet you."

She put a finger to her lips and stared at him. "Why does everyone who comes to this school have a passion for torture?" She stood up, running her hands along the keys of the piano then she proceeded to walk up to him. "Why is that... do you think?"

Ivan blinked, his expression going flat.

"Not everyone enjoys torture. And perhaps it's because it's so much fun, to watch people squirm, with their silly faces so scared~ Kolkolkolkol~"

A pause, he tilted his head to the side, his kind and gentle expression resuming over his face.

"Is that your area of expertise? Torture?" Her eyes widen and she stands a few inches from him. "Do you relish in the suffering of others?" She clenched ehr fists.

Ivan blinked slightly and gave a smile.

"I don't say it's my best area, but I do quite enjoy it, yes~ Seeing all their stupid faces as I swing my trusty pipe~"

She scowled, "You're sick." She grabs his sleeve, "Pleasing to the eye, but sick." She lets go of his sleeve forcefully.

The boy looked down at his sleeve and folded his arms over his stomach slightly, returning his eyes up to Iris.

"Many don't suspect me for what I am because of my sweet face, and they usually don't believe me when I say things like that~"

He smiled slightly, kindly, tilting his head to the side.
"And miss, I don't recall hearing your name."

"You won't be needing my name, I don't think." Her face was once again expressionless except for the storm brewing in her grey eyes.

Ivan shrugged, his expression remaining bright.

"All right, then~ It was a good thing to meet you, miss."

She raises an eyebrow and a small amused smile creeps to her lips. "My pleasure." She takes his chin in her hands, studying his face before dropping her hand to her side and returning to the piano.
