"Not really. I don't speak or read Russki..." He started to drink from the flask. "See? Nothin' bad..." No sooner had the words left his mouth, he dropped the flask in a panic and started backing up against the wall, gripping his heart.

'Joachim? ' she sounded calm, unshaken, but her eyes were wide, her hands clenching the bed covers as she stared at him.

"Kry..sta... lo...v..." The last words wouldn't come out as his world turned to darkness. It didn't matter that he knew wouldn't die, his body convinced him completely. The convulsions slowly came to a halt, and just stillness remained.

Nothing. Not a movement, not a flicker of life in his eyes. Joachim didn't know where Lucy had learned to make such a nasty drink but he'd make a point to never find out.

'God I'm dead lady! Take a hint!' He shouted in his mind angrily. He felt her shaking him and heard her words. Hopefully that hit some kind of note.

And it was only then Joachim realized...

He felt moisture on his cheek. it was working! Krystal was crying!

He'd be busting his ass to make her feel better afterwards but this was worth it. He was breaking the icy shell.
