The man was, for the first time in ages, truly relaxed.


No forcing.
No wine.
Just relaxed.

He gave a small smile and a half-nod.

"... yes.. I believe I do.."

Descole could feel his pulse pick up again when she came so close to him.

And this time, it was his move.

He took her face and gently kissed her like she had before.
Not hard. Not soft.
But a kiss right on the lips.

Something he thought he would never do.

n'aww.
Her hands rested on his shoulders, keeping the pair close, losing herself more into the kiss. She could feel her breathing speed up slightly.

Never in a million years did she dream she was going to be kissing Jean Descole.

Descole, after a few moments, pulled his face away wearily, as if timid to actually separate the kiss.

"... I should... return to work.."

He spoke softly, carefully, his expression gentle with a crack of actual adoration and... love.

"There's... a lot of paperwork.."

She nodded, still smiling at him, her face not indifferent or stoic for once. 'I'll be here when your paperwork is done.' Cayden slumped into her desk chair again, pondering the last few minutes.

She knew Descole had goodness in him somewhere.

The man gave her a last, goodbye smile.
And he told her reassuringly over his shoulder before he left-

"We'll get your daughter out of Azkaban. I promise."

And with that, he left, completely changed by what had just gone on.

She nodded, actually feeling hopeful for once in her life about her daughter being free. With Topher and Joachim's help, they could do this.

Descole had paced back to this office, a stern and cold expression on his face, wearing his travelling cloak loosely around his shoulders as always.

He had a file in his hand.

He knocked quickly and roughly on the door, rapping loudly.

Descole pushed the door open stiffly, his expression dark.

"Good evening, Annete.."

He spoke smoothly, as if perhaps nothing had really happened yesterday.

"I have something I think you'll be quite interested to see..."
With a swift movement, he slipped the file onto the table. The file of the man who had bribed framing Cayden's daughter.

Descole smirked slightly at her use of his first name- though she usually did, it actually seemed to matter now.

"A file on a man who works here named Smith Jensen- the man who framed your daughter and bribed another worker to toss her into Azkaban..."

"I happen to have my ways of figuring things out,"

He explained lazily, crossing his arms under his cloak,

"So to say, I overheard him talking to the man who actually hauled her off. Gave him some money for some reason..."

A slim smile crossed Descole's face, and he gave a harsh chuckle.

"We rat him out. I know where he'll be in a few minutes- we can catch him off guard, get him to admit what he did, and punish him for it. Easy as that."

The man smirked and nodded cooly, turning and walking calmly from the office, leading the way.

Descole inhaled deeply before pushing his way into the interrogation room.

He had been invited there, for what reason he had no clue.
But he had been.

And this was one of those silly girls from the Hogwarts school as well.

After he walked in, he spoke with exhaustion in his tone.

"Sydnay is your name, correct? State the reason you're here.. or why you think you're here..."

Descole sighed, rubbing his temples, conjuring a glass of wine and taking a deep drink from it, swishing some in his cup as he swallowed and let the tingling liquid roll down his throat.

"Now, now. No need to be a quiet little mouse. Or are there special ways to make you talk, mm?"
