He smiled behind his hands. "River."

'I understand you now, you know. I fought you. I fought this' I reach out and tap his arm where the dark mark would be 'for far to long. When you were right. Crouch was right.'

He looked up at her and asked softly, "What did you do, River?"

'I didn't do anything. I just had my eyes opened.'

"What did you see when you opened them?" he asked cautiously.

'The ministry has to fall. Every traitor with it'

"You're...joining our cause? The Death Eaters?" he asked breathlessly. His thoughts were a jumbled mess as he tried to process what she was saying to him.

'Im taking my bothers place.'

He blinked a few times, the cogs and wheels in his brain switching to high gear. "If you're taking his place, what's happening to Crouch?"

I laugh quietly. 'Hes going to be wasting his time like I used to.'

His eyebrows knit together in confusion. "You lost me, love."

I smile. 'We swapped, death. Personalities. Whatever. We swapped. I understand it all now. I know why we need to ruin the minnistry. We have too. And he.' I laugh. 'He is what i used to be. Useless.'

That was the weirdest thing he had heard all week. "How?"

'Magic.'

He cracked a small smile and replied playfully, "Thank you, smartass."

That sentence sounded incredibly odd coming from the mouth of his wife. "Okay... I'll help in any way I can."

'We should take over the world.' I sigh, leaning aginst him. 'No more traitors. No more ministry.'

"That's what we're trying to do, love."

'No, not all the ddeath eaters in general. us.'

"Just us? Two people can't take on the Ministry alone and win. That's why the Death Eaters were formed. You don't know all the ins and outs of what it is to be a Death Eater just yet. But don't worry, I'll show you."

'I can take them on and win.' I smile. 'Death, i'm...' I shake my head. 'All these years and ive pretended that i wasnt as powerful as crouhc, wasnt as good. But i am.'

IC He sighed and mentally rolled his eyes. As if, his wife who was a devoted do-gooder, at least until recently, is just as powerful as he and Crouch. They'd been studying the Dark Arts since they were kids. She's probably never done a single Unforgivable Curse.

Despite the dark turn his thoughts were taking, he kept a neutral face and nodded. "That's good to hear."
