| Tide was dead.
She mindlessly repeated the phrase, musing at how it had lost all meaning over the past few hours. It had stopped sending her into spasms of shock; the pain had simply dulled into an incessant ache in her chest. But she couldn't decide what was worse: feeling blood-curdling stabs of anguish everytime his name popped into her head,
or feeling absolutely nothing but the ache, constantly grinding away at her spirit and reminding her of her hollowness. Numbness had began to coat each inch of her body.
Although on the outside she was stoic, unable to shed even one tear, on the inside she had completely fractured and broken down. This was one push too far. She'd remained courageous and optimistic for so long, but she'd had enough. First her parents had died, followed by Neil, then Bryn and Sydnay, then Ace had gone insane, Amaya'd ran, and now Tide... who did she have left? Nobody. Despair shadowed her every step.
Meredia was finally giving up; she was done. | |
