Clock Tower

The girl stood, brushing down her trousers. "Of course. What's on your mind?"

"I'm..." He seemed terribly ashamed to admit it, "I'm losing faith in anything good..."

Celeste seemed to brighten up instantly. Faith was one of the things she knew well. "Oh! Well, it's only natural that your belief in good would shake from time to time. As much as we humans like to think so, we're not always 100% in our faith."

"You can help?"

"Of course. As always, it's more down to you to find the strength to continue with your faith, but I can still help."

"What can you do?"

She promptly sat down again, inviting him to do so with a hand. "For this? I'll talk to you."

He took a seat, watching eagerly to see what she would do. He was as enthralled as a man at a magic show.

She reached up to her neck, lightly pulling on a chain to bring out the cross necklace she wore from underneath her shirt collar. She cupped the charm in her palm and showed it to him. "Do you know what this is? I'm not sure if it's as recognisable a symbol in the wizarding world."

"I believe that's the universally accepted symbol of Christianity."

Looking pleased, she nodded. "Indeed. If you don't mind, I'm going to compare your faith to goodness to my faith in God."

"Please do..."

She gave a little excited wriggle before beginning.

"While large acts from Him are certainly worthy of my belief, it's more the little things that hold me. As impressive as the big things are, I would simply pass them off as miracles if I didn't see the tiny bits that make me keep my faith.

"What I'm trying to say is, you should keep holding on because of the little things that happen! There are always good things happening, but they might just be so small you're ignoring them or don't see them."

"Please elaborate."

"Hm..." She paused, thinking about this one. "What about... people helping each other? Like right now, for example. I'm helping you without asking for anything in return. That's a little good thing, isn't it?"

"Yes, that's true..." He appeared receptive to her words, wise beyond her years.

"I don't know how things are for you at the moment. Are they particularly troublesome?"

"Just everything seems like a meaningless effort. Like no matter what happens I wouldn't be able to live up to Fade as a man or a leader of my family."

"A threat named Helm recently surfaced and I've not been able to do a thing about it."

"Artemis, not everything can always be perfect. Sometimes, the bigger picture's too much, so you look at the little one."

"I just remember thinking that my dad could've taken on voldemort himself and yet I can hardly handle small scum like who's here."

He seemed to have a thing about highs. He loved them- they gave him freedom, a sence of being the only person in the world- a place he didnt have to hide.
But i a school like this, no matter where he was, he had to keep his guard up.
