Strayer Safehouse

"Things have changed now, Crest.  You're your own person.  You have me now..."  There's a caressing tone in my voice and I wrap my arms around him gently, comfortingly.

"I know I do, but I think I could've given you someone better..."

I look down and sigh, "I love you Crest.  You and only you."

"Sam, I don't even like me, how could you love me?"

"Crest, under this cold shell that everyone sees, is a sweet and caring man.  A man that has feelings, and that I know I can trust and count on... No one ever bothers to look inside of you, Crest.  You're an amazing person."

He let out some relaxation, reprieved that so much as one person had faith in him. "I love you Sam..."

"I love you too, Crest."  I smile and kiss him.

He kissed her back, thinking on all he saw. He had hard times, he's made mistakes, he's lost people along the way including himself.

But no matter those paths, they led to Sam in the end.

So really, how bad did he have it?

IC  I smile, never wanting to let go of him.  Crest has made my life so much more meaningful.  He gives me confidence.  He helps me to be strong.  He protects me.  He loves me so much that he married me.  He saved me from drowning in a sea of depression.  I love him.

Crest silently nodded his head with a weak smirk.

I smile, hugging him, feeling like the luckiest girl in the world.

Tireless nights had led the coldest strayer to pursue late night hobbies, such hobbies included researching in the archives.

Crest knew his family was generally well organized, but he had no clue of the extent until this night. Documents and scriptures and books from as far back as England's founding days were scattered across the table tops.

What Crest sought, he didn't know but he knew he would find what he was looking for in there.

So do you want Sam or Raven or someone in here...?

Sam is sleeping, curled up under the covers, cuddling a pillow where Crest was supposed to be.

Crest tried to read through as silently as possible, not wishing to wake his beloved for his own troubles.

'Weapons Against The Dark Arts' was the next book in the boy's self-assigned curriculum. It was a black leather bound book with silver pages and the strayer family seal on the cover. The book was of a notable age but it was beautifully preserved. Crest had to admire the meticulous care such lexicons were treated to.

I turn in my sleep, unconsciously knowing that something isn't right.  "Crest...?"  His name comes out softly in my sleep.

Crest held his breath as he looked over at his sleeping angel of a wife, but he didn't dare answer.

I squeeze the pillow tighter, looking more uncomfortable.

OOC I'm sorry, I don't really know what to do...

"Sam? Are you... okay?"

I relax more when I hear his voice, but I open my eyes slowly, tired, "Crest?  Are you okay?"

"Yes, just doing some reading... are you?"
