Heather's Asylum

"Okay..." I say, suspicious.

"Is something the matter?"

"No, nothing at all... I'll let you get settled..." I turn to leave the room.

He had waited a whole hour before making his move. He stepped out of the guest room and started to creep along the hallways.

If asked, he had an alibi.

I'm in my office, looking over observations and note I have made of Topher.

He made his way through the cells, looking at each prisoner, some of them truly were insane, but I had doubts on some of them.

I look up at the screens, noticing my dad creeping around.

He had found his way back to Topher's cell, "Excuse me... Christophe?"

"What the hell do you want?"

I watch this from my office.  He suspects me.  Someone must have talked to him outside and now he's proving what that stranger said.  Oh well.  I guess he would have found out sooner or later.

"Where were you from?"

"France, but then the nutty professor took me from my home! Please man, you gotta let me out!!"

I just watch this, writing it all down.

"But my daughter told me you were seeing things... she's just trying to treat me?"

"YA DAUGHTER?! You raised that bitch?! What the hell did you do wrong?! She's just toying with me! She keeps giving me gasses and such to make me act weird!"

I chuckle, continuing to watch and listen.

The man slumped against the wall in despair, how had his daughter gone so awry? What failings did he manage as a father?

Most would say he did very well. Harvey praised his father at many openings and other local parents even asked him for advice.

What if he did it all wrong?

"Heather..."

"Yes, Father?  You look quite depressed..."  I say through the microphone.

"Come down here... we need to talk..."

"Why don't you come back here?  I don't think the conversation you want to have would be appropriate in front of a patient."

"Valid point..."

He starts to make his way to the office.

I patiently wait for him, not looking nervous or guilty at all.

He entered the office, "Heather, what in the name of God are you doing?!"

I reply with a calm, professional sounding voice, "Simple.  I'm treating special people."

"Don't give me that, I've seen only a handful of people in here that seem to be in need of treatment. Give me the real answer." He demanded scornfully.

"I'm telling the full truth.  Christophe Noir is special because he has something called 'Evil Eyes', the ability to cause good or bad luck by looking at things."

"But he ISN'T insane, he doesn't deserve to be in here."

"If I hadn't found out about his Evil Eyes, he wouldn't be in here.  He actually came and talked to me about putting two insane people in here.  One of them burnt down my other asylum."
