He groaned internally.

Oh dear god, why do I get myself into this? Women are so annoying and confusing. Why must they always criticize themselves?

"River, stop. Just stop. You're not destructive."

'I AM!' I look up at him. 'I love you, but i am hurting you. I push crouch away. i hurt my friends...'

He sighed and shook his head. "Riv, baby, please, just stop thinking so lowly of yourself. Yes you hurt people, we all hurt the people that we love most, but the fact that it hurts shows just how much we care. It wouldn't hurt like a knife to the fucking heart if I didn't care!"

His voice was getting louder as he spoke the truth to his...what? His wife? His ex-wife? He didn't even know what to call her anymore. "I hate seeing you with him, with that Auror Boy, but if he makes you happy then so be it. I'll put myself aside so that you can live your life. I won't stop you. I'll gladly step out of the way for you."

'No.' I cry. 'I dont want the perosn artemis is now. I wanted the real artemis, my best friend. And he has Liria. He doesnt love me like that...and thats fine.' I shake my head. 'I dont know what i really feel anymore.' i whisper.

"Look, I think you need to gather your thoughts before we try and fix this." He reached over and grabbed his ring from her and replaced it on his finger. "You can come talk to me whenever you want, just get yourself together before we move forward."

I grab his hand, holding it tightly in mine. 'Why. why do you still want me? im so...' I shake my head, not finding the right word.

He lifted her face so that their eyes could meet. "Because I love you. Simple as that."

Of course, then again, the mere fact that she has to decide really says something there, Death. There must be something about you that turns her off. What is it?

I nod slowly.

He tilted her chin up and kissed her once. "I love you. Don't think that I will ever stop. Okay? Take as long as you need to straighten out yourself then we'll talk."

'ok.' I whisper.

He held her against his chest and gently rubbed her back in slow, soothing circles.

I was sat on the window of the owlery, ly legs dangleing over the edge as i watched people in the grounds below. I was looking out for Artemis, knowing i should warn him about crouch's threat to hurt him

Artemis went up with a handful of letters to warn all surviving Strayers away from their now tainted and tarnished home.

I tilted my head to the side, hearing someone  walk into the room. I turn around to see who it was before staring out of the window again. 'Artemis. I may have done something stupid'

"River, if it's bad news can you please lie and tell me everything is alright? I got enough to deal with." He told her in a slightly rushed voice as he tied the notes to his owl.

'Everything is fine.' I turn and face him. 'Whats happened?'
