'Brilliant.' She walked to the door. 'Come on then.'

He followed her out.

He sat on a bench near the ledge, overlooking the entire school grounds.

Topher walked over to Teddy, punching his arm brother-like, "Hey Ted, what's up?"

He looked up and smiled at Topher. "It's Teddy, not Ted, not Theodore, not even Theo. And, hey, yourself."

"Hey man, I give nicknames to everyone, take it or leave it." He smirked, "Not much really.."

"I'm sorry, I've been kinda anti-social recently. I find myself getting caught up in my books more than I should as of late." He blushed slightly and looked down at his lap.

"Really? What cha reading?"

"Some muggle works. Supernatural stuff mostly. It's interesting to see how they perceive our world."

"Ah... Eugene read some of their work too... went into a scientific psychotic rant about the impossibility of vamps sparkling in the sunlight."

He made a disgusted face. "Really? Sparkling vampires?"

"Yeah... that exist I guess... just ask Eugene the next time you want him to blow a gasket."

He laughed and shook his head. "I think I'll pass on that. What's the book name so I don't read it accidentally?"

"Twilight I think... can you imagine if that were true?"

"Severus... please..."

"Avada Kedavra."

The green light hit the elderly headmaster, sending him spiralling to ground.

He wouldn't live to see it, that much was clear, but he would die knowing his success. With his planned demise, the elder wand's power would be broken, Harry would find the horcruxes and Tom Riddle would at last be vanquished.

More than his heroic machinations that ran through his mind at the last second, River always was in his thoughts as he had promised. Finding her as a Seth, revealing herself as a Crouch, and then joining the Dolohov's. That girl had seen so much adversity in her life and yet she still wished to be a beacon of hope. Perhaps she was the final prayer that light and dark may one day see eye to eye.

It's all up to you Harry... and River...

At last, his fall concluded, the end of the greatest headmaster in hogwarts time. His past was a bleak start but it was long forgotten by his eras of good deeds. Hopefully his part in the defeat of Voldemort would be the final atonement for his schemes with Grindelwald, for the demise of his sister.

Thud.

He hit the ground with a audible thud, the last noise he would ever hear. A congregation of students ran out to see what had happened and the sight couldn't have been more devastating to his fellow staff and students alike...

I stopped at the bottom of the tower, a couple of feet away from the pile of robes and silver beard.

I didnt want to see this i dont want to see this pleaseplease please dont do this...
 the chant went around my head as i stepped towards the body.
theres not much blood he cant be dead he cant he cant he cant.


'Sir!' I call as i fall to the gound next to him. 'Please. Dont leave us. Please...we need you.' 

I knew there was silence behind me, I could feel eyes on me, on him, and finaly, i could hear the shocked gasps as people realised.
'You cant leave us like this!' I sobbed. 'I dont know what to do....'

Topher had been napping close by when he heard the noise and rushed over to see... 

"Oh my god... " His skin went cold at the sight of the head master's body. He who had given him a place to stay purely out of generosity. He thought back to the time when he went to the old man with Potion and asked to be sorted into Ravenclaw....

While Topher was devastated, one man watching from far away may as well have won the lottery as he laughed. "HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA! First.. he gets hit by the curse... and then..." He laughed in a way that threatened to choke him, "And then he falls off the tower!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh you can't write poetry like that!" His cackles didn't reach the crowd, but it didn't have to. His master had won. Victory was theirs as he always knew it would be. 

Now the only bit of business left was to clear out the rest of the garbage...

Krystal arrived late, the ground already covered in shocked teachers and students.
'And so it begins.' she mutters, reaching up and pulling her hair back into a bun. 'first thing first. play spot the death eater and get the younger kids out of here.' 
Her dark humour was one thing that was keeping her sane, she was still ferious at joachim, annoyed that she could hear the broken  cries of river, and most of all...annoyed that she knew in realisty, good didnt have a chance to win.

Teddy saw a crowd of people gathering in front of the Clock Tower base. Naturally, he was curious to see what was happening and approached as well.

He wasn't expecting what he saw though.

The Headmaster was dead. Laying on the ground in a crumpled mass of flesh and cloth. A girl was crying over him. Many stood around, not quite comprehending what they saw. He was one of them.

Death slowly approached the mass of bodies and as soon as he saw his wife kneeling on the ground he approached her and knelt beside her, offering a comforting hand against her back. "River?"

'He warned me.' I cry. 'he said...he knew this was going to happen. and all i did was argue with him...'

Topher walked over to River, knowing the old man has done more than his part in her life. He patted her on the shoulder in comfort. "I'm so sorry Riv..."

' i need...' i need' I stood up suddenly. 'i have to stop this. he wanted me to do something.'

He realized who was laying on the ground before him, dead, and then stood. "I have to go Riv. I'm sorry."

He turned sharply and went in search of Crouch. He'd know what was going on and why the hell Death wasn't informed that this would happen.

Crouch was out laughing his head off in the distance, as he started killing any passersby that got within view of him.
