"A friend," Richard says confidently. He is, of course. "His name's Jim. He's... nice when you get to know him."

'Where is he?' the blind girl was completely unaware of his split personality, curious.

Frowning, Rich gently frees himself from her grip and takes a couple of steps back. Silently, he raises one hand and points to the side of his head.

'Why did you step away? is he here?' her eyes darted uselessly around the room, confused.

While Meredia's distracted, Jim takes Richard's place in one smooth transformation; the fear in his eyes drains away, replaced by amusement; a lazy smile curls onto his lips; he stands a little straighter.

"I'm here, dear," he drawls, folding his hands behind his back. "Dear Richard and I are one and the same."

'Oh.' she didn't seem surprised. 'Each to her own, I'm blind so I can only tell the difference in your voice. Hi Jim.' Meredia bowed to him in greeting.

"It's a pleasure to finally speak to you. It's been... interesting to feel Rich's thoughts when it comes to you, I'll admit." Jim chuckles.

'What's it like both of you, to have a shared mind? Does it hurt?' her voice was simply caring, not frightened.

"I suppose if one of us wished to hurt the other, we could... but we don't. Richard is the only person I feel the need to protect. He's like a younger brother, in a way." Jim shrugs, completely at ease with this fact. "Luckily, nobody can get to him without getting to me at the same time, so it's not a bother."

4 wine glasses later and i'm sober c:

'So It's like a little family in your head, i understand.' she nodded, not fazed, she was a gryffindor after all. 'You don't mind me.. liking Richard?' a flush crept to her cheeks.

IC: "Oh, of course not. I'm happy for him. He needs someone other than me. Personally, I'm not attracted to you in any way, but I do see why he feels that way."

Jim pauses, debating whether to say what he's thinking, and then goes ahead anyway. Richard trusts this girl. "However, know this: if something should happen to you, you will have, in effect, one person wishing for your safe return, and another with the means to ensure it. Think of that what you will, dear."

ic 'You... care about me?' a relieved laugh escape her lips, wanting to hug the man in front of her. 'Really?'

... I didn't know you felt that way, Jim.

"I care about Richard," Jim corrects her. "He'll be upset if something happens to you, and I will become irritated with him. I... don't mind you."

'I understand, I have a family to protect me too. A girl with a sharp mind and one who plays with knives.' she chuckled. 'Trust me, you and Richard are nothing compared to our freak show apparently.'

He chuckles, dark eyes sparkling with amusement.

No, I don't mind this girl at all.

"But the reason Richard wanted to introduce me to you was not because of that. It's because I'm not the most moral person on the planet, but neither am I like that dreadful Crouch Junior."

'Crouch... murdered my family, i need as much help as i can get.' it took a lot of courage for the girl to admit. 'I always have.' she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, sighing.

"Luckily for you, I don't murder just because I feel like it." Well, that's not strictly true, but... still. "There's usually a reason behind it. And even then I don't kill nearly as much as he does."

'I accept that. I've never killed but..' she paused, thinking of Amaya. 'One of my sisters has her own sense of morality.' Meredia seemed uncertain to explain it, but thought she had to.

"I merely think of what I do as 'necessary damage'." Sometimes. "Richard wants me to tell you that he's glad you haven't killed, by the way. Well, he was thinking it, and now he's a little bit embarrassed. It's sweet, I suppose."

'Richard is a really sweet guy.' She admitted, feeling the flush in her cheeks deepen. 'That's why I like him. I'll have nothing against you, since you don't want to hurt me or my family... right? Heard of Ace or Amaya?' it felt odd to only have two people to mention.

"Ah, now Ace..." Jim smiles. "I need to have a word with her at some point. I have a favour to ask of her. Nothing worrying, I assure you, just a little offer. No harm will come to her."

"I promise you, she won't come to any harm. Richard will make sure of that as well."
