Phoenix: I swallow the lump in my throat. I have to be strong for her. "They... they didn't make it... I'm sorry..."

Somehow, her knees collapsed again, all the fight and courage she'd had in the battle had left her. 'Amaya, Bryn, Sydnay..' tormented shrieks began to emnate from the girl, tears unrelenting.

Axel pursed his lips, he didn't know how to comfort the girl. He'd never had a family to lose in the first place.

Pixie: "Bloody hell..." I mutter, scowling. "Nix, maybe it would be kinder to put her to sleep until someone can get her to the HW."

'I'll be the one to decide that.' In that moment, Ace appeared on the scene. Her eyes immediately fixated on Bryn's body first, how the blood had clotted and dried, sticking in disgusting pools to his face. Then they travelled to Amaya, how her lips were slightly parted, as if she were in mid-scream. Finally, they locked on Sydnay, face down, somehow looking peaceful.

In was in that same instant that she also burst into tears, cracking completely. 'I was too weak to help them...'

Eagle: He wraps Ace in a tight hug. He's unable to take his eyes off of Bryn. Brynmor no no no no no no not Bryn no...
"Don't say that, Ace," he says hoarsely. "If you were here you would have died as well..."

OOC I feel like being mean to Teddy again. Poor Teddy, he's always the one to face my wrath...

IC He came out to the Black Lake. He needed to know that Bryn was okay.

He saw the people gathered and he approached them. They all looked saddened. Oh, no... He ran up to them. "What happened?" He looked down and there he saw Bryn.

His heart stopped for one horrifying moment. "Bryn...." he whispered.

Meredia heard Ace's voice, but couldn't locate the girl in her confusion. 'Why did i survive, why me, i'm supposed to be dead.' the gryffindor had started babbling, reeling in her grief.

Ace wanted to reach out for her sister, but couldn't break Eagle's hug, forced to stare at the bodies of her siblings. She kept futilely rubbing her eyes, wishing it was some nasty trick someone was playing on her.

Yet her rational mind knew it wasn't, and she couldn't handle it.

'This isn't real, none of it is.'

Bryn's body was contorted grotesquely, one of his arms was dislocated, curled around his back.

Eagle: He struggles to hold in a sob, but it breaks free, making his shoulder shake. "No, this isn't happening..."

He fell to his knees beside Bryn. "Bryn... Open your eyes... Please...." he whispered. His eyes filled with tears. "You promised me you'd be okay. Open your eyes, Bryn."

Ace was paralyzed, clinging to Eagle for sheer support, unable to comprehend the scene in front of her.

It was Meredia who scrambled over to her brother's body, tripping as she did so and landing beside him. Her palms lay on his shoulder, giving him a small shake. 'Wake up brother, you're the one that was supposed to be alive..'

Eagle: His usually emotionless grey eyes are filled with grief and sparkling with unshed tears. He turns away, biting his lip in an effort to stay silent.

Phoenix: It's heartbreaking. Struck by the knowledge that I could have just as easily lost Pixie, I go back to join her, hugging her tightly. She seems to understand; her hold is equally comforting.

Tears were freefalling down his face. "BRYN! OPEN YOUR EYES DAMMIT!" he shouted.

Ace also hugged Eagle tighter, silently thanking him for surviving this, before breaking his hold on her and wrapping her arms around her little sister.

Carefully, the pair turned Bryn over, revealing more congealed blood and a vacant expression.

Bryn's eyes were open, but their rationality, all signs of his usual peace and lawful judgement had vanished. His body was simply an empty shell now.

Subject: All Sat Dec 01, 2012 9:21 pm

Eagle: He falls onto his knees, his hands finding their way into his hair. He buries his face in his knees, unable to look at Bryn. He can't. He just can't anymore. It hurts too much.

Tears run freely down his face. He can't remember the last time he cried. He knows this will be burned into his memory for a long, long time. Perhaps for the rest of his life.

IC He sobbed even harder. "No. Bryn... You can't leave me. You swore you'd be okay! Don't break your promise!"

There are two other casualties in this y'know, Bryn wasn't the only one. D:

Ace had taken to pulling away from all of them, she couldn't bear to look even at Eagle as she seated herself beside Sydnay's body. The girl knew nobody else would cry for this fallen sibling.

'Sydnay.. You made the right choice in the end, you must've. I believed you would, all this time. I'm so sorry i didn't tell you sooner.' she cradled the girl's head in her lap, taking note that Sydnay looked incredibly calm.

The tears stopped falling for Ace, all she felt was a harrowing numbness.

'He's really gone, isn't he Teddy?' Mer finally whispered, choking on her own sobs. 'They all are.'

He sniffled and whispered, "Yeah, it seems that way." He reached over and closed Bryn's eyes. "He's gone... I've lost him too."

'Me and Ace are the only ones left..' Meredia hadn't registered the fact that most of her family had died in this war, for justice and her peace.

'They were the strong ones, not me and Ace. They perished protecting us, and he died to keep you safe Teddy.'

He shook his head. "Well they shouldn't have! This war was stupid. All it did was bring death and distruction." He looked at Bryn's crumpled body. "Why can't they see that? Why must we suffer for their stupidity?"

'Because wars are stupid Teddy, but Bryn wanted to bring balance to the school, and Crouch gave him no other choice but to fight him for it.'

Ace continued holding Sydnay in her arms, knowing she still had another loss to mourn, but didn't want to face any more of her grief.

'Hate got us to this point in the first place Teddy, don't give in to it. This is what happens when people succumb to rage.' Mer struggled to her feet, oddly calm and poised as she now sat beside Amaya, stroking her sister's ringlets beneath her fingertips.

The girl who'd spent so long protecting her was gone, Meredia needed to learn how to cope on her own.

He sighed and took Mer's words to heart. She was right of course. Rage is what got them to that point.

He reached out and stroked Bryn's face. "Why'd you have you go and play the knight in shining armor? Couldn't you just stay with me?"

'He had to rescue the damsel in distress, as usual.' Meredia was referring to herself detachedly, thinking about Amaya, how she'd been Mer's idol for so long.
