The Red Marble Bar

Silence. He's alone. 

Perhaps he could sneak inside to get a closer look at him...

Using his shadow mimicry spell, Crest's body dissolved into a two dimensional black form and he slid in through a small crack in the window and tried his best to move closer to him undetected.

He was too lost in his own world to notice the shadow moving toward him. It wasn't anything unusual either. He was used to seeing things that shouldn't be moving, moving just after an outburst.

Crest slid up his chair, peering over his shoulder and found him doing... nothing. 

Was he lost in thought? Was he scheming? What was he up to?

He centered the blank canvas in front of him and grabbed a paintbrush. He dipped it into the paint closest to him, a navy blue, and began painting.

The image didn't take form for a while, but when he was finished several colors splashed the canvas and created the image of a young, beautiful woman who had a cruel edge to her smile. She held her hand out to him, as if reaching out of the canvas for his hand.

Crest watched the entire painting come alive. Whoever he was, he had notable artistic talent. 

But who was the woman in the painting? More importantly... why was Crest bothering with this? This man had shown less than 5% of being anything so dangerous as to require his attention. 

Maybe the guy just had unstable magic. It wouldn't be a first time, and Sam just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. 

Crest was starting to believe that theory. Besides this was extremely far from Raven's usual company. 

Yet something in the back of Crest's head nagged at him persistently, like a splinter in his head...  

All the logic that this man wasn't after Sam was present, yet he couldn't find it in himself to embrace it...

But why not?

He signed the bottom with a scratchy signature and dated it. He set it aside to finish drying. He looked around the bar for someone who may want to buy it. He needed money for food, he was running out.

"Kevin, you painted me a portrait. How lovely." Temp curled up on the seat next to him. "You are so good at that, boy," she crooned, reaching out to touch his face.

He flinched away from her. "Don't touch me," he mumbled.

The shadow form froze in place. Did he exactly see him? Crest couldn't count on a single hand how many people could see him in his shadow form. 

Maybe there was more to him than he expected... 

But for now, stay motionless...

Temp stood suddenly and leaned over Kevin. "Don't flinch away from me, boy. I won't hurt you just so long as you be a good boy. Don't you want to be a good boy?"

Kevin curled in on himself and whimpered. He nodded his head. "I-I'm sorry, Temp."

Temp smiled. "Better."

Temp? Who was that? It was noone Crest had encountered in the past...

Was she a shadow player just now making her hand know?

A big meaty, scarred hand gently pulled Temp away from Kevin. "Let me talk to him, Temp." The face of Harp came into view and his scarred face resembled a twisted smile. "Hello, boy."

"Harp, please leave me alone. I don't want to be bad, please. I want to be good. I'll listen to Temp."

OOC building momentum, bear with me.

Was he talking to someone? Were they invisible or speaking to him telepathically? He had to know.

"No you don't, you lousy piece of shit. You're good for nothing. You're evil and you know it. Your parents hate you because you want to be 'good', but they know you. I know you. You're just as bad as the Death Eaters. In fact, you're worse."

"D-Death Eaters..." He knew that name. His parents were Death Eaters. "Mom and dad are those... Am I one now?"

Death eater!
The word rang in his ears like an alarm from hell.

He sprung from the shadows and gripped him by the back of the neck, placing his face down on the table, "Tell me all you know..." His voice was one of authority, cold and demanding. "And don't even think about getting away..."

He cried out as his face was slammed into the table below. "I-I don't know. What's going on? I didn't do it," he cried. Tears were prickling his eyes. He couldn't handle it. Harp and Temp constantly harassing him and now this stranger yelling in his ear, demanding things he didn't know about. "I don't...

No! Kevin!! D:  -tries to stop Crest-

"Don't lie to me. Who were you communicating with!"

He sobbed into the wood below his cheek. "I don't know... I don't know..." he kept mumbling. "Joshua, Seventeen, make it stop. Please!"

"Who are Joshua and Seventeen? Are they death eaters too?!"

"I'm not messing around here. Yesterday you attacked someone very dear to me. A girl with a child on the way. Tell me! Did Raven send you?!"

His breath caught in his throat when he heard that he hurt Sam. A pregnant Sam. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt her. I didn't mean it. They made me. I don't know anyone named Raven. Harp and Temp made me. I didn't mean it." He kept rambling apologies and things of that nature as he felt the guilt of hurting Sam and her unborn child. He really was a monster. Just like his parents.

"Apologies don't erase the act."

"You're coming with me, and tell me all about your associates..."

He was pliant in the other man's grip. He kept crying, but the tears now were silent.
