Honora Castellum

'You may need to update your archive.' she mumbled, using a moment to take in the information. 'He understands that true loyalty is not inspired by fear... and he wants to retrieve a certain Christopher Noir, his grandson.'

"Noted. Why?"

'Topher has the same power he does.' she pointed out almost obviously, wondering how Crest hadn't realised. it's not complete common knowledge..

"Nothing outside the obvious?"

'think he's trying again with his mission now that my parents are out of commission. His old enemies aren't present anymore.' she knew her parents had "retired"... as in, the Ministry had fired them during its slow descent into corruption.

"Follow me." I order her as I start moving to our storage area.

She trailed behind him, taking a moment to marvel in Honora Castellum's architecture once more. It really did fascinate her..

I take her inside the storage area and hanging on all the walls were artifacts and charms from past experiences in our unending war with the darkness.

Among the artifacts was a charm that looked like a a blue eye with dark blue around it and light blue around the pupil. It is this charm that I take out and hand to her.

"He's made contact with you."

'Correct.' she didn't deny it, after all she hadn't accepted his offer. Cayden doubted she would anyway, more for the pride of her parents and her own personal mission than anything else...

"And you acknowledge that joining means we'd have to go and stopyou?"

'Of course.' she nodded. 'I am fully aware of the consequences, hence why I have remained impartial for now..' she continued looking at the pendent considering. 'I want the Ministry brought down, but I'm not immoral.'

I nod my head and hand her the pendent, "this will protect you from his power. This is the only one we have."

She blinked, turning the object over in her palms. 'I can't take your only one..'How did the other Strayers manage?

"You're closer to him than any one of us can ever hope to get. It's logical to give you it."

'How would you like me to operate? I see no use in informing any of the other aurors..' she admitted, closing her palm over the pendant. 'Only Descole and you know so far.'

"Agree to meet with him in person, be flattering, get as much information as you can out of him and then leave the rest for us."

She almost shot the young man a withering look. 'I'm an auror, I'm not trained to be some sort of escort.'

I give her a dry look, "I mean appreciate him, marvel at his intelligence, anything to exploit his ego."

Were all aurors these days this stupid?

'And that's what I meant. I hardly flatter people Crest.' She wanted to roll her eyes, restraining herself for the sake of courtesy. 'But I will talk to him, like i would with anyone.'

"Just get him to talk."

'I will, but i will not go out of my way to make an enemy of him, just remember that Crest. I try to be neutral when i can; i only aim for corruption to be eradicated in the Ministry ranks..'

Which is like trying to cut down a tree with your fingernails.

"If he threatens the peace, he's a thret and gets taken down."

'What peace?' she asked softly, despair surrounding her for the moment. 'There isn't any, it's all smoke and mirrors, nothing tangible yet..'

"Just don't do anything stupid." With that I start walking out.

'I won't, you underestimate your elders.' she smiled to herself, feeling calmer than she had before. Cayden was certain she could do this.
