I shrug and smile, "I believe that ANYTHING is possible, though..."

"I would agree, miracles happen everyday!"

"Possibilities are endless!" I smile, "Anything is possible."

"Are you into the bible per chance?"

I shrug, "I've read it, but it never really interested me..."

I nod my head acceptingly, "I understand, it's not for everyone."

Cynder always took great pleasure in looking through books.
Especially mythology of the past.

However, this book she had never seen before.
Sitting down with the thick book full of different legends and sketches of a time called 'the golden ages', she quickly began to bury herself in reading.
She was completely interested, even though it was, well... fake, of course.

Her dove cooed on her shoulder and nibbled at her ear good-naturedly.

Whatever that being of darkness was, I know it will probably pose a threat in the future. Even I, by sheer devotion alone, managed only barely not succumb.

The Strayer archive has no record of it, perhaps Hogwarts had an answer.

Perhaps it was lucky Cynder had looked up.
When she saw Crest, she gave a wide and glad grin, waving kindly to him before returning to her book.
She had a few more on the subject next to her, stacked in a reasonably tall pile.
It was amazing how many books there were. And how many seemed to be written by a man with a pen name of 'Ombric Shalazar'.

She did enjoy these. The Golden Ages sounded wonderful.
Well, besides the end of it.

I walk up to Cynder and point to her books, giving her a quizzical look.

That was right. The man of few words.

Cynder blinked at Crest before opening one of them.
"Legends I found. On a time called the Golden Ages. It's all myth, yeah, but it's really interesting. Almost sad, too... whole families killed by a general taken over because of one mistake... It's really quite fun to read~"

It was a long shot, but anything was possible in this world.

"Any mention of a being who commanded fear?"

The girl seemed genuinely surprised that Crest knew about that legend.
The Nightmare King, they had called him. General Pitchiner, gone evil.

"Well, yes there is... a commander called Pitch, who sailed the stars on his Nightmare Galleon and plundered the golden ages into dark times... Why?"

"Show me." I was, as usual, never in the mood for small talk when it could be avoided. In mission mode, nothing else mattered.

The dove on the girl's shoulder cooed slightly in upset as Crest ordered her owner, but Cynder obliged with a smile.

She pulled out one of the books written by Ombric Shalazar, and flicked through the pages before finding an illustration of the Nightmare King.

Next to it was another, colored illustration of the King commanding his ship through the stars, giving a menacing glare to his next prey.

"Here he is... Pitch Black, the Nightmare King."

I sit down and read it throughly, even re-reading it. One would dismiss it as outlandish if the evidence were not already shown.

"Thank you."

Cynder raised a brow and frowned.

"What's up? I don't think anyone even cares about these, or knows about the legends any more..."

I just stan and start walking out, unnecessary panic could aide the enemy.

Cynder stood quickly, upset crossing her face as she jogged to catch up with Crest.

"Crest, excuse you, but I want answers. You seem concerned over this, like it's real. Come on, it's just a myth.."
