The Black Lake

Fury. thats all I felt. And i couldnt understand why.
I just felt angry.
I was pacing around the side of the lake, trying to rain in my anger

Lukas: lol join the club i was feeling fury in the forets yesterday.

ooc but river never feels this angey. lol

eh, usually lukas doesnt care about anything so i suppose it's plausible.

Feet dipped in the cold water, pale body shivering slightly, Cynder sat at the edge of the Black Lake.

She had returned from her own little time of waiting- a sort of vacation in a way. And yet she seemed quite serious right now.
She was singing to herself, a small foreign song in French, but her expression showed signs of complete curiosity and wonder. Almost careful sorrow. Almost.

She hadn't seen Matt in a while...
Of course, she had been gone, too... but it was unlike him...

-I walk out and find Cynder looking rather down.- "Hey, are you alright?"

A small jump, Cynder turned quickly, hand flying to her pocket, touching the grip of her wand warily.
As the voice and sentence registered in her head, she turned toward the other human, letting out a long, low sigh and giving a weak smile.

"Oh... Hello Artemis. I'm... I'm fine, thank you."

"Oh okay! Mind if I join you?"

A small shrug, Cynder looked back out across the water, her smile fading.

"... yeah, I.. don't mind.."

-I walk over to her.- "Are you sure all is fine?"

The girl tensed, scowling slightly as she turned her face down, to her hands in her lap.

She felt a snap of anger from the Raptor grow in the pit of her stomach, forcing words that she didn't necessarily mean from her lips.

"Doesn't matter to you, Strayer. Why don't you run along to your pretty wife- she'll be upset you're here with me."

-Cynder never snapped like this...-

"Cyn, what's the matter?"

A snarl, Cynder felt a glob of the venom filling her mouth, and she snapped back to the boy with an awkward, full-mouth sort of tone.

"Nothing, auror!"

-I jump back and ready my wand.- "Who are you? Really?"

Cynder stared at Artemis long and hard, her brown eyes glazing gold for a moment before she turned her face away, looking at the water and hunching her shoulders.

her voice had a small tremble in it, as if on the verge of tears.
"... l-leave me alone.."

"Please Cynder let me help you! Im your friend!"

"It's... nothing.."

The girl had lowered her head, brought her legs to her chest and rested her chin on her knees.

"... I'm sorry, Artemis... I'm worried... and scared.."

"Your eyes looked different, like you were possessed. What happened?"

A small grimace, Cynder held her knees tightly to her chest, turning to look at Artemis, almost searching and pleading.

"... I don't know. I just don't know any more... it was dead... but... something happened. Crouch.. gave me something... I just.."

A shake of the head, she let out a frustrated sigh, burying her face in her hands, mind racing.

"The Cheerful Night potion! Of course!"

"Look calm down a cure is being made!"

A shudder, a small, choked, sob.

"... a cure won't help it, Artemis... the thing came back. It's been hiding in my blood since you killed it... a poison to ward off people from stealing my blood... to keep me- it's host- safe..."

A tremble, she raised her eyes to the sky, sending up a silent prayer, shaking.

".... the unholy thing is back, Artemis... the spawn of both intelligence and darkness. It's got the attitude of Crouch mixed into it this time... that potion... brought the Raptor back.."

-My eyes widen considerably.- "Back?! With Crouch in it?!"

"Okay, we need to separate it again. Do you remember the spell used to separate them?"

Anothr shiver, the girl turned her eyes away from Artemis, feeling quite ashamed in herself.
She had a few cuts down her arms, long and wide but healing.
She didn't pay them mind.

"... no, I don't... and I think it's different this time. It's not just another separate being... it's... just... here..."

"I promise you, I'll try to get rid of it."

Cynder felt herself tense, anger forcing words into her mouth again.

"What good are promises any more? And anyway, your pretty wife will be glad to see it kill me off..."
