Head Aurors office, Ministy of Magic

'Exactly why i am not going to kill you. just making sure you know that i could.'

'Oh, boris.' I chuckle. 'Havent you noticed, i can wait years, plucking out the corrupt one by one?'

My eyes blaze bright green. 'You keep thinking that. Just wait. one day, this ministry will be the way it once was. good. and i will be at the top, stopping idiots like you getting their grps on the place.'

'Pity for you i will never be corrupt, then, isnt it, Borris? and my name is Seth.'

'Sure i am. tell me how i am corrupt then.'

'I dont always think i am right. but i have to follow my own path, not what others tell me to follow.'

'Becasue this is the path i want to follow.'

I sigh. 'Now, are you all done, or do i have to hear more from the deatheater and the scum? can i go and get my brother?'

I rool my eyes and disapearte

Krystal dropped a pile of parchments on the desk, looking up at her boss with dead eyes 'THis is everything from over the years. Obviosuly, i do not know what he was doing while I was not around him, but there is a lot since I started working with him.'

The man looked up at her, his face creased with worry. 'Not compliaing, Kry, but...You were with him. Sure you want to do this?'

She blinked. 'He is wrong. he steals and lies. why wouldnt I?'

'Because we know what was going with you two. You love him.'

'I dont know what love is.' She points at the parchment. 'Use that. Catch him. I dont care.' She spun out the room, the door slamming behind her

The woman had been promoted to deputy since the cleansing of corruption had begun. Working under the current Head auror, Cayden was more than happy to accept the position, knowing that after decades of service to the Ministry she was glad to see it become a more fair and just environment.

These things took time, of course, but she wanted to be part of it.

Receiving an owl from the Desouza brother, she had accepted almost immediately to see him, curious as to what the information on this so called "death eater traitor" was. Of course, there had been many Death Eater sympathizers who had renounced their ways or claimed they were controlled when the Wizarding War had ended, so to hear Bryn want to meet her on such a common issue intrigued her. Something must be different about this case...

"Cayden, me and the Auror Crest Strayer would like the Ministry's resources in surveying a Death Eater conspirator. Crest has reason to believe that she may be the key to rooting out the remnants of the movement, and stopping a new one rising." 

Cayden frowned at the boy, her lips pursing into a line. Whilst she believed every lead should be looked into, she also did not think the Death Eater movement was an issue anymore, and how she could justify the direction of resources onto a hunch.

"Do you have any evidence to back this up? I know you are true to your word Brynmor, but I cannot dedicate Ministry manpower on instinct alone." With her comment the boy nodded.

"She is currently being escorted by my sister's friend away from the Death Eaters' grasp. We tried to locate her in Paris, but we were either mislead to her location or she is hiding elsewhere. The woman has stated multiple times to my sister that she wants to defect and escape the clutch of her family and friends, who are still loyal to Voldemort's cause."

Refraining a wince at the name, Cayden clasped her hands together. "I do not believe trying to track down the woman would be an appropriate cause of action. She may have threats on her life - and if we want her to surrender any information then implementing surveillance and risk having her find it is simply not an option." At her statement Bryn opened his mouth, about to protest.

"But." She continued. "I would like her brought directly to me, if she is found. I will dedicate my people to locating her too - people I trust within these walls. I assume this will satisfy Crest as well? I know he is as wary of the Ministry as I am. If the informant is brought to me then I will ensure her safety from my people and her enemies whilst she can tell us what she knows. Then I will decide the appropriate action from there - with yours and Crest's input." Cayden offered a fair solution, her hands tied on the issue of surveillance. It was too controversial, too risky to ever be taken if there were clearly other plans that could be pursued. 

The Ministry did not need another scandal when it could be avoided.

Bryn accepted her answer, immediately writing an owl with her exact words to his ally. If Crest had any protests then he could voice it to the Auror as soon as possible. But for as far as he was aware, Bryn was satisfied with the deal. There was not much more he could ask of the elder woman.

If there was a reason Crest didn't like getting involved with official channels, this deal made it all the more obvious why. What part of 'could root out the remaining death eaters' did she fail to grasp? Did she really think they were so minimal a threat now?

Or was Crest overexaggerating the missions importance? They were at the end game after all. What if the most important step was already taken and the Death Eaters were simply fading away like snow on a scorching day? No immediate changes that the eye could see but it was happening, gradually but finally. 

However, Cayden was one of the very few people inside the Ministry Crest trusted. So he formulated his reply ands tried to ease the tension off his back.

"Acceptable. Congratulations on your promotion." was his only reply back. Even though the war was for all intents and purposes over, Crest still made it his business to be privy to these kinds of information. He almost derived a small inkling of humor over it.

It felt nice to almost laugh again.

Just then a knock came at the auror's door, "Hey Cayden?" The voice sounding like a New Yorker who just returned from a long hiatus in Paris and was still shaking off the acquired accent.

The boy was about to give her more pressing information about the matter, knowing Crest appeared to be happy with the deal but would require more from her. "The Death Eaters are-"

With the knock, a confused frown crinkled the elder's forehead as she held up a finger to silence him. Cayden would address his concerns, but the lack of privacy rang warning bells in her system. Bryn shuffled to a chair in the corner of the room, hands clasped, needing no more instruction.

"Come in." Whoever the person was, theyd have to put up with the brother being there, since she did not want him to leave in the slightest.

Topher stepped through the door, "Hey Cayden, I ain't interrupting anything important am I?" Some lingering feeling in the air surrounded him as he walked inside, a thick heavy feeling as though he were stepping into the densest, hottest fog imaginable. 

His piercing blue eyes surveyed the room and saw Bryn sitting in a seat, "Oh hey Bryn! Life treatin' you well?" He raised his hand out to him for a high five.

His features immediately brightened, meeting Topher halfway with the high five and giving the boy's shoulder a hearty slap. A warm, nostalgic smile overcame his expression, pleased to see the Noir boy happy and.. alive.

"As well as it can be." he admitted, still smiling as he sat back down, crossing his legs and waiting for Cayden to speak. He knew it couldnt be a coincidence that Topher had showed up here, and decided to see where the conversation went.

"You could say it was important." She pushed her spectacles onto the bridge of her nose, peering at him through them and assessing him. "It is most likely related to why you're here, of course. You may speak at ease here." Cayden indicated to the various corners of the room, casting a quick spell. "I have disabled all surveillance for now."

Bryn nodded to Topher, indicating he would not speak of anything unless given permission to.

The proverbial fog in the room dissipated as quickly as he felt it and greatly welcomed the privacy. The fact his friend was there too helped mattered significantly. "Well what I'm about to tell you will be a pretty tall tale, but hear me out..." He urged the both of them with utmost gravity. Considering the young man's ideal day involved naps and a game of poker with friends, such staunch seriousness was jarring. 

"So it all started with Amaya and I meetin' up, talking things out. And eventually she lets me in on a little secret."
