Bahr al Jabal

-A vast swamp in South Sudan, formed by the White Nile. The area which the swamp covers is one of the world's largest wetlands and the largest freshwater wetland in the Nile basin.-

-POP!-

-I land ankle deep in mud and water. My 'persuaded information' better be accurate. Persephone better be here, or someone is in for the pain of their lives.-

The woman's head twitched slightly to the side, the presence of a newcomer twinging in the back of her head.

She had been warned someone would come. A Death Eater, come for training.

She kept her back turned to the sound, her silk-like robes hanging loosely to keep her cool in the hot Sudan sun, her long black hair haunting, giving her what might have been the appearance of a banshee.

Ans yet she didn't turn around, merely standing in the mud and water, looking up into the unforgiving, soupy sky.

-I am wandering around this Dark Lord forsaken bit of muddy earth, trying to find this women. She had better be close by...-

Bending down, running her hands through the muddy water in the swamp, hair dripping as if she had been swimming in the cold water.

Her voice had a cold echo that seemed to spread over the land.

"Stop your searching, boy, and look at what's in front of you."

-I smile crazily.- "You are Persephone I presume? I assume no introduction is needed for ME?"

The woman straightened, but she did not look at Crouch.

"Yes, I am Persephone, Bartemius (spelling?) Crouch Jr IV..."

A pause, the woman inhaled slowly.

"What business do you have here...?"

-Crazy Grin- "Well word through the grape vine is you got all sorts of fun tricks you know about the Dark Arts..."

A slight laugh, the woman finally turned.

Her wet hair clung to her pale skin and long, thin neck.
Her face was lengthy, with porcelain-like skin and a long, thin nose.

Her eyes were a haunting grey-ish blue, like an overcast day.
Printed around her left eye was black swirls and magnificent designs, as well as what appeared to be ancient writing scrawled in fancy and tiny letters near the swirls.

"... Where did you hear this? And why do you come to me, a silly follower of the Dark Lord is of no concern to me."

-I desperately keep my rage in check at this, and actually succeed remembering why I'm doing this.- "Suffice it to say I like to be kept well informed..."

"And I came to you because I heard many great things about you!"

A pause, the woman walked slowly toward the boy, looking him up and down, misty eyes looking as if she might be blind, though that was not the case.

She paused a few feet away from him and held out her right hand.

"Show me your arm, boy."

-Crazy Grin- "As you wish..." -I show her my unbranded arm.-

A quiet silence formed around the woman as she gazed at the unbranded skin, clean and empty of any mark.

And yet she concentrated on it, as if it did have something that was very hard to make out on it.

The black around her eye seemed to leak, drip as if it were coming off, though it stayed where it was.
It dribbled onto Crouch's arm, splattering in neat writing down his arm.

A chuckle, the woman looked back up at the boy.

"Ah, yes, I do see..."

"What is the meaning of this? I demand an explanation!" -I shout angrily.-

"Demand..?"
The woman raised a thin brow, a smug smirk on her face.

"It's nothing but showing you for what your lie was. Simple ignorance and foolish childishness. The mark washes right off.... unlike your other arm- the one I really wanted to see..."

-I begin to snarl like a beast at her and show her my marked arm.-

"You're not a bear, Crouch. Silence yourself."

She quietly took his left arm and looked at the dark mark, running her thin finger over the snake with calculating eyes.

"... Yes, this is branded by the Dark Lord Himself- but... just still an ordinary tattoo..."

"You have quite a lot of nerve to insult the Dark Lord's mark of honor!"

"Insult? Hah! Listen to yourself! He really did brainwash you, didn't he..?"

A pause, she turned away from him, letting go of his arm and taking a few steps through the swampy water away from him.

"I have no interest in working with the Dark Lord, thank you."

-Crazy Grin- "I suggest you reconsider..." -I put my wand in the water, after stepping onto a branch as a ground and send off an electric current from my wand.-

The woman did not turn as the electrical currents swam through the water.
It surely would have hurt any other, but a sudden wave of what seemed to be a black oil-like shadow surrounded her, catching the electricity and protecting the woman.

She smiled quietly to herself.

"Go away, boyscout, I don't want your cookies or popcorn, or whatever it is you're selling."

-My grin turns to a grimace of annoyance in a matter of seconds.- "I'll be selling you your head if you don't cooperate..."

"For someone who hates rudeness, you are quite touchy yourself, aren't you?"

The woman turned, staying in her safe circle, where the electricity glowed in the water, around the black shroud that seemed to be coming from her own body.

"I would ask you tell me what your real purpose here is, Bartemius. And kindly. I don't take to pressing Death Eaters lightly."

"Don't EVER call me that."

"And I'm here for the power I need for my revenge."

Ignoring his snap at her, Persephone pulled out her wand and gathered the electricity, walking slowly toward Crouch as she aimed her wand a different direction and shot the blast of energy away from them.

She looked him up and down for a moment before replying.

"Training, Bartemius? And revenge..? Don't tell me you're a bit raw and sore from a good beating?"
