He was at the top of the stairs when she saw him. the tap of her shoes hitting the stones echoed around as she ran to catch him up.
'Edward, wait.' Sophie called.
He turned on the spot, the caged snake in his hand, 'WHat?'
Her eyes flickered to the snake, feeling a sharp stap of sympathy for her brother. 'I want you to stop. i cant do this anymore.'
He chuckled quielty. 'Why would I stop?'
She frowned. 'Because i asked you here, but now i dont need you.'
His laugh loudened 'So? I came here for my own perposes. not just because you asked me too.'
The tone of voice made her step back. 'Edward, what are you walking about?'
'I have been planning this for years, Sophie. You will not ruin it for me now...'

He was heading towards the gryffindor tower when he spotted sophie with a strange looking man. 'Sophie...what's going on?' Lukas laughed in the back of Evan's mind, enjoying the show.

'Who are you?' she whispered, ignoring evan
'SOmeone you once knew, but then forgot about.' Edward shrugged. 'But i didnt forget you.'
She frowned. 'I dont understand.'
'You never will! You were all so stupid, so selfish! you never even cared!' Edward shouted.
Sophie flinched back. 'I dont know what you are talking about. I always cared...always. about my family.' Her eyes flashed upwards as a scarlet pheonix soured down from the rooftop. It flew up to Edward, and he dropped the snake in shock. the Pheonix caught it, flying over to sophie. 'I would do anything for my family. i just didnt know it before.
Edward stared at her with pure hate, getting out his wand.

He knew in that moment that he had to help her, but he was momentarily distracted by the Phoenix. It was astonishing in it's beauty....

WAKE UP EVAN. Evan shivered, turned back to Sophie, taking a few steps forward, wand in his own hand. 'Don't touch her.'

'I AM YOUR FAMILY!' The boy roared, flicking his wand, the illosion falling off him to reveal the blonde girl.
'Emily?' Sophie whispered.
the other girl laughed bitterely. 'Well done. glad you caught up.'
'Ems....why do you hate us so much?'
'you left me. you all did.'
'No.' Sophie took a step towards her sister, her arms outstreched.
'Dont come near me! Stuplify! (i know i spelt it wrong) Emily shouted, panicing
Sophie flew backwards, landing by the stairs, but loosing balance.
Almost in slow motion, Her yonger sister watched as she fell down them, landing at the bottem.
Sophie sisnt move.
What have i done?

Everything seemed to still. In that moment, all he was aware of was her falling, not towards him, but to the very bottom of the flight of stairs. He was almost watching a film, helpless to stop the inevitable, merely observing a train crash in slow motion. She couldn’t have survived that….

He somehow found himself by her side, his palms futilely grasping fistfuls of her shirt, trying to shake consciousness back into her. All the commotion around him fell on mute and deaf ears. He only saw her; her lifeless and vacant eyes, hardening expression on her young face, hair splayed out limply around her, just a body.

The corpse of the woman he loved.

Someone was shouting her name, screaming with dejected, raw anguish. Their shrieks pierced through the blanket of hush, until he numbly became aware of the fact it was him who was shouting, repeating her name over and over, lips forming a perfect 'o' as he continued his useless motions.

You can't be dead

The pheonix made a mourfull sound, the echo of a beautiful sad song, diving down. a single tear from its eye landed on her cheek, but nothing happened. His human compaoin was gone.

The boy was trembling, clutching her body, holding it to his chest, wishing he could feel her heartbeat again, anything to bring her back.

'You were meant to be the strong one, you weren't supposed to die, i loved you god-damn it!' he shook her once more, as if to confirm what he had just seen wasn't some sort of illusion, Sophie had left him.

Evan couldn't handle it.

It started slowly, creeping up on the boy, small gutteral sobs escaping his throat, completely losing his composure. He had fallen apart in that minute, the person he loved ripped away in those agonizing moments.

Evan. Lukas spoke coldly, but the other boy didn't respond, he was too consumed with his grief. Snap out of it! there was still no reply, Lukas was stuck in a broken man's head...

or was he?
A wild and manic grin spread across Lukas's face, it was so easy to take control now Evan was too horrified to fight, it was just like putting on a coat or jacket for him.

'Well Evan, it was nice while it lasted, but you were just a pain in the arse.' and with a smooth laugh, Lukas carelessly erased the pieces of the boy that had been called Evan McFadden. Just completely wiped away.

Human emotion could be useful after all.

The bird scensed a change in the boy holding the companion, and flapped his wings, carrying the snake up to safely.
It turned its eyes up the stairs to where the other girl was.
But Emily had gone.

He straightened, feeling a strange wet sensation crawling down his face. Of course, Evan had been crying, how pathetic. Lukas glanced down at Sophie's body, the grin still smeared on his face.

'Well Sophie, you did help me in the end, thank you.' he patted her corpse on the head, sending some of her brown hairs to the floor aimlessly.

'I hated you an' all, but you got rid of Evan, so i guess i better bury ya.'

Luke rushes down the staircase, broom over his shoulder. He nearly collides with someone and comes dramatically to a halt.

He seems lost for a moment then gathers himself, offering his hand. "Luke. Nice to meet you." He pushes back shaggy blonde hair and hefts his broom higher on his shoulder.
