"No, not at all, why would he?"

"Well, he seems to really enjoy you, so I don't know why he would. But... He just had a hard life growing up and tends to... Well... He enjoys inflicting pain on others..." I sigh, tears coming to my eyes. "I won't lie, he is insane, but... No one ever tries to look past that... He's been bullied and tortured his whole life, and people have always judged him so harshly for some reason..."

"Is that right? Well I've found nothing as of yet to object to."

I smile at Eugene, tears still welling in my eyes. "That makes me glad... It means he's changing for the better..."

"Well I've never known him any other way so, I can't accurately evaluate that."

"Yes... I suppose that's true..." I bite my bottom lip. "Well... As you get to know him more, please try not to judge him so harshly as the rest of the world has." There's a sort of loving, caring look of desperation on my face. "He may seem cold hearted at times, but he's really just a lonely and tortured soul..."

This woman, she was unnaturally kind, like Phoenix. "I promise I won't."

I smile at him with a true gratitude. "Thank you... Thank you so much. I can only imagine what a new friend means to him... He had no friends in his life until he met me in college."

"I truly don't understand why. He's easy to get along with." (Unless you're a grinning sociopath...)

I shrug, shaking my head and sighing. "Everyone judged him so harshly for some reason... It did a great deal on his psyche..."

"I see... wel, you should be happy he was salvageable, we both were."

I nod, smiling. "He really is a nice guy once you work past all the insanity... I remember we had the funnest of times raising our two children..."

"Sam and Sally right?"

I chuckle, "Samantha and Sarah, yes." I smile, "Have you met them?"

"I think I've met Sam, but not Sarah. Sam was very nice to me."

"Yes, Samantha is such a kind young woman... If only she had more confidence in herself..." I smile, "Although, her fiance is helping her with that, so I'm happy for her."

"You seem to have a very good family, one I wish I had had..." (God I hate using the same word next to each other)

I start getting that sympathetic look in my eyes. "You didn't have a nice family?"

"My father wasn't anyway... my siblings were good..."

"I'm very sorry... A lot of father's seem to be troubling these days." Even Jack... But I know Jack's trying to get better.

My eyes widen with empathy. That's how Jack talks. "...You and Jack have a lot in common."

"Yeah, but I kind of have a problem..."

"What's that?"

"Well... I know revenge is bad, I've seen what it does to people. It's like a poison in your blood but...."

"I can't just let him live..." I clutch the top of my head like I was trying to physically rip the thoughts from my head.
