-I apparate with Cynder in my arms, still protecting her with every bit of me. Thankfully my years on the streets have made running with heavy things an easy task.-

"GED! SOMEONE! CYNDER NEEDS HELP HERE!"

Ged looked up from his work in the rice fields quickly, straightening, eyes dark.

He stood and made his way to the roads, picking up his pace to meet the boy.
"Joachim? What happened?"

"Hell if I know! I just found her like this in the Hospital Wing, and Pomfrey wasn't doin' jack so I brought her here! Can ya fix her up?"

-I ask with an unusual amount of concern. Whatever happened to my 'every-man-for-themselves' philosophy?-

Ged's look became more then concerned, and he took Cynder in his own arms, muttering to her.

As before, she didn't respond, merely stared.

Ged's expression hardened.

"Come on, let's get her to the sick-house. Toki's working there now..."

He turned, expression unreadable but suddenly.. almost... scared.

(( Oh Joa, you're going soft. ))

-Oh crap! If GED looks scared this is SERIOUSLY bad!- "What can I do!"

Ged walked swiftly toward a well-built house, the limp Cynder in his arms.

He admitted with sorrow and suppressed fear,
"I'm not sure, Joa. I don't know what anyone can do. I just hope..."

He trailed off, mind wandering.

"No one is givin' up on her! Least of all me!" -I speak adamantly, something quite out of place with me.-

Ged smiled slightly.
He noted the change in Joa's voice. It was a nice change.

"Joa, if... if she has what Clare did, then I doubt there is much we can do. But... if I'm wrong. If It's jut an ailment.. then there is no reason we should hold back."

"You give the word, and I'll do whatever ya need!"

Ged pushed his way into the darker, but clean building.

Several people, including Toki looked up as Ged responded to Joachim.

"Thank you, Joa. Thank you for bringing her here. Thank you for being true and loyal."

And he set Cynder in one of the hospital beds as he began to file through equipment and potions and such, heart racing as Cynder looked blankly at the ceiling.

-I'm standing right beside her bed, like a bodyguard protecting his queen.-

Ged looked at Joachim quietly, nodding to him.

"Joa, if you would," He spoke gently, "Will you grab the thickest, deep amber colored potion in the cupboard? It's a fever reducer that one of our better Potion brewers made, and whatever is ailing Cynder will settle because of it. But make sure not to get any on you, it's potent no matter where you get it applied, and It'll drain all head from you."

"Ya got it!" -I run over and grab the bottle, being very careful with it.-

-I go over to Cynder and unstopper it.- "Just pour it down?"

Ged nodded gently.

"All of it, thank you. This will cool her down and wake her from her daze."

-I pour every single drop down her throat- "Come on, Cynder... pull through..."

Ged nodded in thanks to Topher before pulling over a table and taking a vial of her blood, using a device to scan her head.

Please... anything but-

Negative.

Ged relaxed greatly, sighing.

"Joa, we might have a chance for her. Luckily, she doesn't have a tumour or growth in her head that often made my late wife like this."

He smiled slightly and called one of the women over, giving them the vial before returning his attention to Cynder.
She turned her head, blinking, and looked at Joa and her uncle with curiosity.

Her flesh seemed to get a bit of color, and the burning fever reduced greatly.
Though when she tried to talk, an airy sigh was all that came out.
She scowled, still unable to hear, an upset look on her face.

Ged exhaled.
"..."

"Take it easy Cynder... we got this under control..."

-My tone is much calmer, and more reassuring than when we first met.-

Cynder noted Joa, though still unable to hear what he said.

She scowled and tried to talk again, but Ged put something cold to her arm.

"I'm sorry," He spoke, "But you need rest.."

And she blacked out as he injected the liquid.

Cynder swung her legs over the side of the bed, realizing how well she felt for the first time.

The fever had left her, though she still felt rather sick to the stomach... but still, it was like her tongue had been cut and her ears plugged.
She was met with a silent world, and a silent mouth.

-I had been waiting by her bed the whole night, waiting to make sure Ged's niece was all good.-

"Welcome to the world of the livin', Sleepin' Beauty..."

Cynder blinked and tilted her head in confusion to Joa, motioning to her ears, trying to mouth that she couldn't hear him.

Nearby, the exhausted Ged had fallen asleep on a couch, and now stirred gently, as if on the brink of waking up.

"Oh... ya can't hear me... goddammit..."

-I look over at Ged, maybe I oughta wake him up, so he knows she's at least alive.-
