Eagle's HQ

I'm sitting somewhere in the HQ, drawing some quite depressing stuff in my sketchbook. Depression comes random sometimes, even when you've been really happy for a long time; even when there's not really any good reason. When it does come, it's hard to fight off... It's hard to do anything except sit and feel sorry for yourself... But that just makes me feel worse... It makes me feel selfish... Makes me feel like life would be better without me. Sometimes I don't understand how anyone could like, even love, someone as pathetic and weak and selfish as me... I don't understand how someone as strong as Crest could love someone so small... So fragile... So me.

Look at me, sitting here, just thinking about myself and how pathetic I am... My eyes start to tear up and I hug my legs close to myself, crying into them. Hopeless. Filthy. Worthless. Guilty.

I walk over to Sam, "Dearest.... Are you alright?"

There's no use in lying; it's obvious I'm not. And I don't want to lie... Especially not to Crest. "Crest... Why do y-you... Love me?"

"Why? There's too many reasons to tell. What's troubling you?" I hold her close.

Love. Warmth. Crest. "...Myself."

"You can tell me anything.." I tell her gently.

"I'm just so... So fragile... Weak... Selfish..." My eyes tear up again and I hug onto him, "You're so strong and immovable... How can you stand being with me?"

"Sam... Do you truly believe me strong? That's very incorrect. You are the stronger of us."

I look very, VERY confused. "H-how is that?"

"Sam, part of life is handling rough times. When you faced your hardships, you kept hold of being a human. You kept being nice, gentle and kindhearted."

"Me however? As soon as adversity struck, I killed myself on the inside, sacrificed my very soul to not feel pain. I was too weak to stay human."

"You reminded me of how it felt to be a person. To feel things again."

My face turns from grieving and depressed to compassionate and empathetic. I hug Crest, having gone to him as if he's the one in need of comforting.

I hug her back, returning her sympathy, "That's how you're strong. You were always yourself."

I look up at him and give him a small smile. "I love you, Crest..."

I smile at her, "I love you too Sam, oh I got you something!"

My smile widens. "What is it?"

I hand her a box about the size and shape of a pizza box, but the lack of food inside dispelled that theory.

I smile, opening the box.

Inside was a gray set of Strayer robes. "I'm sorry it wasn't something more.."

I hold them up to myself, grinning happily. "I LOVE them! They're wonderful!" I hug Crest, feeling happy once again.

I smile and hug her, "I'm so glad."

"That material is specially made. Provides a good defense without the sacrifice of mobility and it's pretty comfortable."

I smile, "I'll be right back..." I run into another room, and after a few minutes, I come out wearing the robes, trying them on.

I get mildly red looking at her, "You look stunning..."

I smile, running up to him and kissing him. "I LOVE them!! They're really comfortable..." And just receiving any gift makes me happy...

I kiss her and hold onto her, "I wasn't sure what your sleeve preference was, is that fine?"
