Yaxley Residence

"I see." He is eyeing him a little more appreciatively when Rhiannon and her mother re-enter the room, carrying trays of cakes and sandwiches and things. Mrs. Yaxley sets a tray down in front of Jay with a tea pot and smiles.
"She probably poisoned it." Rhiannon mutters.
Her Mother glowers at her. Rhiannon sits down next to Jay and Mrs. Yaxley perches delicately on the arm of Mr. Yaxley's chair.

Jay chuckles at Rhi. "Thank you, Mrs Yaxley." He smiles politely and he takes a sandwich.

"You're very welcome," She puts a hand affectionately on her husband and Rhi leans back, rolling her eyes, "So what brings you here, darling?" She asks Jay.

Jay swallows before answering. "I wanted to get the opportunity to meet Rhi's parents. I want to do things right." He smiles at Rhi.

Mr.s Yaxley frowns in confusion, "Get what right, dear?"

He turns back to Mrs Yaxley. "The whole relationship thing... I thought it would be prudent to meet you, seeing as Rhi and I are in a relationship."

She blinks, trying to keep her smile on her face, "Oh..."
"Well what did you think, Mother?"
"Study partner or... something..."
Rhiannon looks at Jay and takes his hand. She looks defiantly at her mother.

Jay laces his fingers with Rhiannon's. "Is there a problem, Mrs Yaxley?" he asks, still polite.

She purses her lips, "You're very young..."

"Ma'am," he begins, then struggles to come up with a reply. (OOC: Actually am :L) "I'm not asking for Rhiannon's hand in marriage." Not now, at least.

"You make very irresponsible decisions at this age, what are you? In your sixth year?" She claps a hand over her mouth with a sudden thought, "You are at school aren't you?" She takes in his suit.

"Of course I am," he says hastily. "I only wanted to present myself well. Mrs Yaxley, I have enough sense not to make stupid decisions." Not entirely true, but at least I try to make up for my mistakes.

"We'll see about that," She says with a forced smile. She smoothes her black silk dress and turns to Mr. Yaxley, "What do you think of this, darling?"

Aw, crap. That doesn't sound promising. Jay glances at Rhi before resting his eyes on Mr Yaxley, hoping he's changed Rhi's father's mind about him even just a little.

Rhiannon squeezes his hand, "Father, before you decide.... there's something I need to show you." She beams and stands up, presenting her wrist, the dark mark branded magnificently on her skin.
Her father pulls her arm forward, "Good girl, Rhiannon. I'm proud of you."
Rhiannon's face glows. Never in her life had her father uttered those words. "Now if your cousin would hurry up with his..."
Mrs. Yaxley hugs her daughter and kisses her on the head.
"I take it you talked her into this, you took her to get branded, didn't you? Thank you, boy!" Mr. Yaxley says to Jay. Rhiannon looks meaningfully at Jay.

He sees Rhi's look and he nods at Mr Yaxley. "Yes. I knew of the Yaxley name, and I thought I would help Rhiannon see things correctly. Not that she needed my assistance in the first place."

Mr. Yaxley stands up, beaming as much as his usually scowling face would allow, "That's my boy. Thank you.. We didn't know if she would qualify but you obviously helped her out."

Jay smiles. "It's no problem, sir."

He claps him on the shoulders, "Welcome to the family, then , son. But don't let this go to your head, we're still assessing your every move."
"Dad... really?" Rhiannon huffs.
He ignores her, "You look after my girl."
Mrs. Yaxley watches them, her face cold and beautiful. You could tell she wasn't pleased with this turn of events, but would never stand up against her husband.

"Thank you, Mr Yaxley." He nods and looks at Rhiannon. "I only want what's best for her. I won't let anyone harm a hair on her head. I promise."

She smiles at him, "Well done," She mouths.
Mrs Yaxley begins to speak, "Now your cousins are coming round-" Rhiannon stands up quickly, pulling Jay into a standing position as well.
"We better get back to school anyway." She laughs awkwardly.
Her mother looks at her disapprovingly.

"It's been a pleasure. Thank you for your hospitality." Jay attempts to smooth over their abrupt departure. "Rhi's right. We have to keep our grades up, after all." He chuckles.

Crouch: -I bust in- By the way Rhi's pregnant, tootles! -runs out-

Jay: -Looks sheepish, then runs for the hills-

Mrs. Yaxley doesn't buy it and remains seated, her arms folded.
"Yes, yes. Of course! We need good students in the family," He shepherds them to the door and holds it open for them, "You're welcome back any time Jay. You too of course, Rhi." He chuckles.
Rhiannon rolls her eyes and walks out the door.
Just before Jay leaves, Mr. Yaxley pulls him back and growls quietly in his ear, "If a single cell on her body is harmed, I'll have you to deal with, do you hear me?"
