Third floor corridor

Topher was on the staircase at the exact time this meeting happened.

Had he heard those voices right?

He didn't expect to hear them again after their self imposed hiatus, "Guys?"

'Nobody's here.' her voice came out flat and bland as she watched her siblings escape. 'What did you want, a goodie bag or something?' Amaya still hadn't figured out who the eavesdropper was, cautiously running a hand over one of her blades.

Only one dame had that voice, "May?" I step out so she could clearly see me.

'Oh, it's you.' she confirmed in her mind, adjusting her stance into a less hostile one. The girl had hardly changed, apart from managing to become even more sarcastic than she was before.

'Well like i said, nobody's here, just me chillin' in this corridor alone.' she made a sweeping motion, still seeming uninterested.

"Right... and I'm the czar of Russia."

"But never mind that, it's good to see ya again." He smiled at her genuinely  he truly had missed Amaya more than he realized. He never stopped wondering where she went off to.

'Check the corridor if you don't believe me.' She refused to meet his gaze, mainly because she hadn't really prepared herself for encountering her old friends yet.

'I'm still alive. Thought i'd let you know that much. I don't intend on staying long.' her voice was clipped, guarded in every way.

I check down the corridor and sure enough, there wasn't even a spider on a cobweb as far as I could tell.

I sigh in mild disappointment but I've come to expect this by now, "Should've figured... but hey, good of ya to drop by."

I laugh heartedly and wrap my own arm around her friendlily (god I hate that word), "And are you sure not stayin' long doesn't mean, 'Just couldn't keep away from your devious good looks?'" He smirked at her playfully, fully joking of course.

ic She nudged him underneath his armpit, snorting. 'Riight. You've gotten a bit chubbier since we last saw each other.' she joked again, prodding his sides still.

"Yeah well, I see you changed barbers... what, was the dementor not getting the back right?" I tease her with a boyish smirk as I swirl some of her hair around my finger.

'I think you'll find my hair is fabulous darling.' she announced in a posh voice, batting her eyelids in mock disdain. 'I wouldn't expect someone not as refined as myself to understand.'

Amaya could barely finish the last sentence, shaking with silent laughter.

Topher (and I) is on the verge of breaking into hysterics but had to get one last jab in, "And yet between the two of us, who's the one who's royal darling?" He smirked and pointed to himself with his thumbs, "So where's the trumpet you need to announce me?" He patted her back. Of course, it was all in good fun.

'Let me just get it, good sir.' she pretended to turn around, before frowning. 'Oh what a shame, it seems you left your ego at home.'

she finished there, face setting into a serious expression after her laughter had ebbed slightly. 'Okay, I'll admit i've missed ya dude. There's only so long i can spend with my siblings.'

"Yeah I missed you too," his laughter was still fairly abundant but was slowly exiting, "Where were ya all this time?"

ic She tapped her nose secretively, smiling slightly. 'Hiding from Russians, helping my family reunite and curing insanity.' Even though she was pretending to hold secrets, she was actually telling the entire truth. Flying off Chezekov's radar and helping Ace become stable had been a bitch to handle.

"Damn... and here I was expectin' a family vacation..."

'Believe me, there are no vacations for my family.' she mumbled, rolling her shoulders in a shrug. 'Whatever, we don't need them.'

'what about you? done anything awesome?'

"Well, turns out my grandpa is a nutcase who wanted me to take reigns of a cult he owned, but other than that fiasco, nope."

'nice, you're becoming the new head of the illuminati.' of course, she didn't believe him at all.

"No way, I'm not even that well suited to being rich supposedly..."

'whatever floats your boat I suppose.' she mumbled again. 'At least you have the choice.'

"Trust me on this, wasn't a choice..."

she feigned throwing a hand to her forehead, imitating a faint. 'Oh no! Poor pretty boy has too much money! whatever will he do?'

I chuckle, "Yeah, but gotta act all proper and crap to get it..."
