A pause, Descole turned his face back to Crest, eyes narrowing under his mask, a stern look crossing over his face.

"Well, look who's fit the puzzle together finally. Yes, I find a way of working everything out for my purposes. And yes, I've found more then one use for Veritaserum, but it doesn't concern you..."

A pause, the man silenced himself before gazing at the opposition.

"... funny thing about Veritaserum is that people can fight it. Perhaps more... drastic measures can be taken?"

"Hold on," Layton spoke quietly, "The auror who was killed- perhaps she committed that crime herself?"

-The Strayers are observing, making sure no one made any moves leave or jump Cynder.-

Joachim: "Why would she do that?"

"let me track him down." -I say not waiting for confirmation before I start walking out.-

Descole nodded curtly and moved back to the defensive benches, sitting down again.

Layton paused.

"Can you bring the body back in, Miss Cayden?"
Hershel asked after a moment,
"I would like to check something on her before we resume the trial."

Hershel scowled slightly before nodding in understanding to her denial of bringing the body back in.

"Well, Miss, if you did not recognize the woman, there's a chance she might have been under the Imperius, perhaps?"

A pause, the man crossed his arms, moving back to the defence benches, saying his last thought.

"But what I can't help but feel is that this was a personal attack on the girl from the Death Eater's side. I wanted to check her arms for a Dark Mark. Suicidal attempts are nothing to Voldemort if he gets rid of someone trying to stop his stronger death eaters."

Cynder blinked, giving Crest a small wave of goodbye.
Two people gone..?
One person dead?
Her chances were getting slimmer.

-I look to the ground to try and find foot prints of the auror who was taken out of the court room.-

Descole gave a soft laugh and stood.

Layton had sat back down, a thoughtful look in his eyes.
This was a puzzle...



Jean took a few steps toward the offending side.

"True. But there is two of them. Just two other-shapes. And yet there is a whole side of you, fighting against her all thinking the same thing- thinking she is not human.
Now, if that isn't biased, what is?"

-I spot some tracks, and proceed to follow them-

The man snapped back. 'Because it's not human!' Cayden sighed in exasperation. 'she, not it.'

Descole held up a hand to silence the man.

"Please, friend, calm yourself.
I hunt Death Eaters and half-breeds for a living... and I can tell you, they are all human."

A smirk, he paced to Cynder.

"She has emotions... thoughts... feelings... and a soul, like any human. I've seen into her head... In your sense, she might not be. But if Justice is another being, then Justice is not the human.
Cynder is."

-I follow the tracks for a bit and eventually they stop. A dead body . Not the first time I've seen one. Time to ascertain the cause of death...-

-Nonverbal killing curse, slightly warm body, not dead very long.-

-I begin searching the area for the killer.-

Descole gave a curt laugh, shaking his head.

"You are thick, aren't you? Responsible for the beast? First of all, you saw how gentle it was. Second, you say 'responsible' and 'possesing' as if she accepted it into her.
Cynder was born the way she is, and she's kept Justice from harming anyone so far."

-Tracks have ended. 3 possible conclusions.-
-Situation A. The killer had a broom ready to fly off when finished. Likelihood 25%.-
-Situation B. Apparated. Likelihood 45%.-
-Situation C. Ambush. Likelihood 30%.-

The sword was out in a moments notice, tip pointed at the auror as if Descole might throw it at him in any moment if he piped up against him.

"You yell at me one more time, and I will personally make sure you shut your trap. Now..."

A quiet inhale, the masked man continued.

"We've confirmed the death was because of a non-verbal killing curse. Cynder couldn't have done it because just a few days ago, I took her wand away from her.
And God knows the people on her defending side are in no may murderers.."

-I glare at the man.- "Problem?"
