"Well dungeons right down there..." He pointed to a staircase that led downstairs, "Don't mind the skeletons, have to do a bit of spring cleaning you know..."

'How long do you plan on keeping her here?' he added in a quieter tone, aware that he could be in hearing distance of the Crouch sibling.

"However long it takes for her to see just how cancerous order is... once she starts seeing things correctly, she'll be freed."

'How will you know she does? She's a slytherin - like you - she can easily trick you, just as you could her.'

"Think you I don't know my own sibling?"

'If you think we can convince her then..' He cracked his knuckles, offering a confident smile. 'Let's give it a crack.' 

Lukas began descending into the dungeon, his footsteps echoing.

The moment the footstpes come into my hearing, I sat up straight. 
'Go away!' I shouted, putting as much venom as I could into the words.

"Look River, just because you're being held hostage isn't an excuse for bad manners." He chided her as he took a seat to watch.

Lukas hadn't expected Crouch to be spectating, mulling over how he could tactfully approach her, despite her brother's looming presence.

'You're pretty defensive.' He observed flatly, looking directly at her. 'It won't get you out of here, though.'

'Do you know what i am?' He wondered if she'd ever studied his kind.

My eyes narrow at him and I cros my arms. my eyes dart from him, to crouch, then back again, and my eyebrow raises.

'Take a guess.' He implored, leaning against a wall with his arms folded. Lukas knew a lot about River's intelligence, honestly just curious, for now. He matched her smirk for his own.

'Your someone worth staying away from.'

'Are you sure about that?' He asked, studying her again. 
'Judge me not by my company.'

I stand, walking over to the front of the cell, watching him. 'everything comes with a price with you. Doesnt it? Let me guess, you are going to pretend to help me and then wait and use it against me?'

'That would be far too boring.' He mumbled, threading his fingers through his black hair. 

'Ever heard of the kistune race? we're a fickle species.'

'In my experince, most people are fickle, so how are you differnt?'

'Our species binds our promises. if we don't keep them, we die. Humans get to worm their way out of anything, it's a bit more risky for us.'

'What about loopholes?'

'There aren't many loopholes to "If i break the terms of my contract i will have my heart torn out of me by the nogitsune."' 

Lukas had a perchance for chaos, he would endanger his life for the sake of amusement/ interest.

'no, but I'm sure you are someone who will go 'of course ill help you with that' but wont specify how, or the problems you cause, or even when you will do it.'

'Well, if you like, i can tell you to precise detail what my aid would entail. A lot of people take up on my offers, the Desouzas, for one.' 

River did not seem the type to seek power, and neither were Amaya and Brynmor. 

'I'm not evil, in your conventional terms.'

Crouch watched the entire exchange silently, observing his long standing partner in crime. The kitsune must surely have an angle he's playing at. But what, Crouch could not say. 

Maybe listening more would reveal more.

"Question is, why would you want to help me?"

The kitsune rolled his shoulders into a shrug. 'You're probably going to be roaming this earth longer than i am. Everyone you love is going to die, except for Crouch. No matter what you two do, you're stuck with each other.' 

He remembered that both siblings had been turned into vampires, and would eventually surpass even his own mortality. 
'Plus, being alive for 400 years has been.. boring.'

'I dint think anything you can do is going to help my brother and I.' I smile. 'I may be shut up here for many years because I will not bow to crouchs ways. There is nothing to change that.'
